Seems like we are at the breaking point with infections, so something has to happen. We aren't even through vaccinating 60-70 year olds, so we need to keep focus on them as they are more vulnerable and then focus on the GTA.
Ford isn't wrong that people are ignoring the rules and doing non-essential shit. The only outbreaks in my northern town have been from people travelling for costco runs or booty calls. The stopping of golf and other outdoor activities will only help in the sense that it will eliminate us getting together for a beer after. That isn't a major issue, but it is a contributor. The police will not enforce this. They will hopefully just break-up super spreaders. There are not enough of them and they won't waste their time.
Government paid sick days will shutdown many essential businesses in my opinion due to abuse. My company gives up to 10 paid sick days a year, and they all get used by almost every employee (in non-pandemic times). Mostly Friday's and Monday's coincidentally. We even brought in a policy that we will buy-back your left-over days at 50% value at the end of the year and that didn't make a dent. Paid sick days would decimate manufacturing. How can you run a mill or assembly line with people calling in sick all the time? A few bodies missing shuts down the line. Fors is probably the only politician that knows this. The rest are lawyers and drama teachers who have never worked a day in their lives.
This is a shitshow, but until we have herd immunity through vaccination it's going to carry on. Remember when we thought we would be out of this in a year? Now we are just praying for immunization by the end of September, and that looks doubtfull. Vaccines are the only way to the end, so for medical "experts" to pretend that there is a solution that doesn't solely rely on vaccines is bullshit.
