Haha you are posting on a karate forum about covid and so am I. Neither of us is oppressed in anyway at all. The victim mentality is the funniest part in all this. Everyone thinks they have it hard whilst spending most of their time watching random youtube videos and facebook viedos

The pressure to get everyone vaccinated is so obscene that they are even bribing folk with money or threatening to take away their livelihoods. This is ridiculous. IBM will require workers to be Vaccinated by Dec. 8 or no pay. Moreover, it appears the ones pushing for this, have not fully thought out the impact or repercussion of forcing people to undergo medical treatments they do not desire. It strikes me as outrageous folly for example, to demand that agents at the U.S./Mexico border get vaccinated while allowing migrants into the country who have coronavirus and not mandating that they be vaccinated. That is correct, the Biden Administration will allow Covid-19 positive illegal aliens to flow across the border but will fire devoted law-enforcement officers who do not comply with his mandate.

In New York, non-elected Governor Kathy Hochul declared that hospital workers and nurses that had not been vaccinated would be fired and replaced by the National Guard. In North Carolina, Novant Health announced that 375 unvaccinated workers over 15 hospitals and 800 clinics were suspended for not getting the Covid-19 immunization. The told unvaccinated employees that they had five days to comply or be fired. Reality is that many of these doctors and nurses across North Carolina and New York are not conservatives and many are Black. To be more precise, more than 75 percent of voters in New York are democrat.

The irony cannot be lost regarding these actions. Funny, just last year, these were unassailable front line heroes. Supposedly we were all in this together, not to mention that hospitals around the nation were short staffed and having trouble finding workers. Now they'll complain about staff shortages and long waits. And they will use that as an excuse to deny treatment. It’s happening already. So much for the justification that vaccine mandates are necessary to avoid overburdening the hospital system. It can't be a true pandemic if you're firing frontline medical workers. In a true pandemic, this wouldn't even be an option. In a real health crisis, you don’t fire healthcare workers. The question is if it is about your health, why fire the hospital workers? Yesterday’s heroes, today’s enemies. Vaccines mandates are so important to protecting hospital capacity, it is necessary to destroy hospital capacity with vaccine mandates.

You guys still don't get it . It's not Australia turning into China.. it's 2 states / mainly 2 cities that have been locked down.

The rest of us in my state the entire pandemic have been locked down once or twice ... the entire pandemic... for me it's been 1 weekend off lockdown and 1 weekend of masks mandated.

Pubs restaurants sporting events etc all haven't stopped... the entire pandemic.

My state has had 7 deaths.... the entire pandemic. ( 5.7 million people ) Life's gone on as normal faaar more normal far longer than the rest of the world here.

It's literally like me saying USA has gone fascist because of new York.......
It's not a federal government thing... it's state not federal... the China comparisons are so far off its inane. It's corrupt local / state governments.

No it isn't. A bunch of idiots chucked a tantrum because they had to get a vaccine or have a medical reason by a certain date after getting looked after for the entire covid pandemic. Unlike the US we don't allow violent rioters to hold the city to ransom for months on end.

They were allowed to protest until they started damaging property, by kicking in the front door of the union headquarters, assaulting people(including kicking a random persons dog) and taking over historical sites and major highways.

That's the crap part in all this. We haven't had enough covid spread for anything but vaccines sadly. We never really had a true country wide outbreak and by locking down those two states the rest of Australia hasn't had to do any of this crap. Vic and NSW have allowed the rest of the states to live like normal and all those states have locked them out immediately all pandemic.

I juust disagree on the vaccine with you based off my personal experience and options in Australia.

We had zero covid in Australia in March this year, with barely any vaccination.

Delta made it out into the community from covid hotel leaks and then we had another outbreak.
We cracked 1500 in NSW about a month ago with a 50% vax rate, they just cracked 70% and now have 600 odd dailly cases just on a month later. The other state Victoria will crack 2000 cases today and is at abouut 60%. When they crack 70% I am backing the case numbers will nearly half.

All the other states with low covid have locked both NSW and Victoria out. They don't have any herd immunity. One states has only had around 236 cases... They have locked off the two most populous areas to protect themselves and enjoy their covid free lives, but now it means they have never been exposed to an actual outbreak.

Personally I think just open up, but 3/4 of the country won't allow 2 states in if that's what happens. Those states who are "free" have already deviated from the national plan and are saying they still might not open at 70%.

It's the same as Florida and Texas saying one thing vs New York and other blue states.

Vic and NSW could probably just open at this stage due to vax and natural immunity rates, but the other states won't let them in if they do that because their vaccination rates aren't there yet.

The national plan is vax to 70% and then open up. It seems good enough to me.

Of course not. Some people far prefer the new world.. working at home seeing family saving more money etc. Some people love it shrug

But because the rest of our states have covid death totals off ( we only got 7 )

7....9...9...4....13... and 0

With probably a combined 20? Active cases .. none in the community. That's the entire rest of the country... basically covid free. Still

So nsw and Victoria ( Melbourne and Sydney ) have 65000 and 51 000 active covid cases.

So the vast majority of opinion would be I don't want the infected here. It would almost be overwhelming in my state to want to keep em out while we have no active cases. Who wants that shit?

The problem is. Once the cats out of the bag like in Sydney and Melbourne. You aren't getting back to 0 covid.. politicians fucked up being a island... smh. So what to do next is a larger issue ethically than your China comparisons honestly.

Personally at the very least . The regions in nsw / lockdowns should be able to vote whether they lockdown or go back to a version of Normal.... but the quarantine on new arrivals via state travel and definitely on international arrivals should stay. Who knows may make a world of a difference for when this thing mutates again.

But there should be avenues to allow freedoms of travel back. Do it intelligently and it'd be fine.

For me we are in a ethical conundrum.. not a overbearing federal government. So the China comparisons don't work and dilutes the reality... well imo

This is exactly it. NSW and Victoria took on the majority of returning international travellers and paid the price. Until they get things in check we can't open the country. that doesn't mean zero covid, that means some form of immunity to the virus country wide.

We have two options:
1.Open and let the other states experience the pandemic for the first time.
2. Vaccinate and get immunity that way.

I live in one of the covid states currently so I am definitely good to open up. I would rather wait till my parents are vaxed for the rest of the country though because they are higher risk.

People don't realise everyone who wants to be vaccinated still hasn't had the chance yet and have had to wait.

Yeah... I differ I don't particularly care for vaccine mandates. I especially despise the idea of separate groups of freedoms based apon a passport to spread covid.

Not on board with that insanity personally
