Gold Medalist Judoka Kayla Harrison on MMA future

Why wouldn't she get a free pass? They gifted rousey the belt before she even fought in the ufc, and she didn't even take gold!
Ronda fought in the bush leagues first , she fought in Calgary 20 min from me at some small Casino probably for free lol , but this girl double gold damn thats some elite shit .

Depends on how well she can take a punch to the chin.
Thats true! I always think that when people talk about football player "x" or basketball player "y" or Venus Williams competing in MMA. Getting blasted in the face with a straight shot is an experience unto itself!

She's probably just too big to make a career out of MMA. She competes at 165 lbs. Maybe she can make 155. If she starves herself to death maybe she can make 145, but I doubt it because she moved up from the 150 lb division when she was still just a teenager.

The only money fights she has are with Cyborg and a possible freak show match with Gabi Garcia. There's barely even a talent pool at lightweight for her to beat up on to build momentum for either of those.

"It's just so different from judo," Harrison said. "It's such a different atmosphere from the Olympic stage. ... After a match in judo, you shake a person's hand or you give them a hug. You bow to them to show respect. MMA isn't like that. I don't know if I'm cut out for a world where you get fights based on how pretty you are and how much you talk, not necessarily what you've done in the ring."

Great....another one trick pony like Honda.

Just saw an interview about winning her second gold medal in a row. Basically, the interviewer brought up Ronda (as expected) and MMA.

Her answer, and I'm paraphrasing: "I've gotten a lot of offers. I'll talk to the Pedros (her coaches). But i'll do what's best for me, and not just always follow in Ronda's footsteps."

The real GOAT U.S. female judoka has spoken! Not sure how she'd fit in the wmma scene since she competes at 170, but maybe a fight with Gabi?? Lulz
She is around Cyborg weight and could probably make 145.

Ronda was also doing judo in a heavier category since there is much less competition.

WTF does this girl realize she has 2 GM , maybe the real players have not made offers yet , she can do nothing & say nothing & be a money fight right away.
{<shrug} lol I dunno. She's definitely wrong about the sportsmanship thing. Maybe she should watch more MMA.

UFC should create a 155 division and let Kayla fight Cyborg right away. Oh wait, Cyborg say that she doesen't want to move up...

She walks around at 165 she competes at under 171.
145 should be doable.

If the UFC wanted her bad enough they'd make a division for her, just like they did Ronda.

Judo?....Nonsense!....Gotta lose the Gi AND you have to know if you can throw punches AND more importantly, can you eat your fair share of them?...The last Judoka wasn't able to eat em and we may never see her again.

Who is/was the most accomplished male Judoka? Yoshida?
He was actually allowed to keep his Gi.....Always liked watching him and he was tough but l, his stand-up was very sloppy!

My comment was in response to Judo being a good base to transition into MMA....I am sure she is great at Judo.
