Pretty straight forward. 6 month squat and overhead press competition (no push press).
Competition starts June 1st and goes until December 1st
**Competitors may still join after the start date. There’s no advantage to doing so, after all.**
Interested lifters will post their current 1RM in each lift with the following format:
Name, Weight, Squat, Press, Total You may add your goals for each lift if you’d like
Before the end of the contest lifters must post a video with their new 1RMs along with their totals using the previous format.
Format of these post should be:
Name, Weight, Squat, Press, Total
-Embedded YouTube videos-
If you want to post updates on your 1RM before the end of the competition, try to @ me and I’ll update your score.
Rules:
1 - All weights will be posted in lbs, because ‘Merica. Google can do conversions for you. Round properly.
2 - Squat needs to be to parallel at the very least.
3 - Overhead press must start with the bar touching your shoulder/collar bone/upper chest, and end in a full lockout. No bouncing.
4 - We will have a judge examine the videos to determine what lifts are valid.
5 - Any gear may be used in the contest with the stipulation that you must use the exact same gear for both the initial lifts and the final lifts. So, if you want to use a squat suit, belt and knee wraps in your final lifts, you must use the same squat suit, belt and knee wraps in your initial lifts.
6 - Scoring for each lift will be done by calculating:
score = end lift - start lift
The lifter with the largest positive score will be ranked 1st for that lift. In the event of ties the lighter lifter, at the end of the contest, will receive the higher rank.
There will be a winner for each of the events. The overall winner will be determined by calculating the sum of their individual event ranks. The lowest sum will be the overall winner. In the event of ties, the lifters will be ranked according to their totals.
Prizes for overall winner:
- bottle of alcohol of your choosing (be reasonable), and a custom t-shirt.
- bottle of hot sauce from @jrams
- t-shirt from Lift for Kids from @NurseKnuckles
- $3 gift card to Outback Steakhouse from @cincymma79
Prize for individual event winner
- a custom t-shirt
Some notes:
1 - This post will likely change as I receive feedback from other members.
2 - This won't go forward unless we get a nice pool of people
3 - If you're a whitebelt who doesn’t have a log and/or no one on this forum knows who you are, you will not be included.
