So many hate threads over the last few days, mostly centred around Jones' no contest with DC, trying to downplay Daniel's achievements. He did what Jones didn't do, which was become a two-weight champ, shook off his 'paper champ' tag by knocking out the reigning champ, and took Jones' callout of Brock. Yeah, he mentions Jones a lot, but if I were DC, I'd go as far as I could to rub my rivals nose in my success after all the bad blood between the pair.

Congratulations to DC, one of the true fighters left in the game, and if Mr. Jones has anything to say, he should do it in the cage whilst not on drugs, instead of over twitter.

DC could have knocked out Stipe with one hand whilst his other hand is full of chicken bones.

Agreed, but I can tell you right now this thread will devolve into the usual salty hate-fest.

DC is the only simultaneous 2 division title-holder, outside of Conor.

they are all started bye jon jones blind followers who think jon is a perfect person and a saint of a man.

DC is the man, I don't think anyone can argue that...

For some reason, people love to hate DC... Even some Sherdog writer wrote an article saying that DC is not among the greatest...

One doesn't have to be eternally tied to the other. I find it interesting that DC can't really be mentioned without the name "Jones" not far behind. DC was the #2 HW in the world before the though of him fighting Jones ever entered anybody's mind. And now he is the HW Champ. Which again, has nothing to do with Jones.

But when LHW is brought up and talked about, the conversation has to be centered on Jones, because of who he is and what he did there.

DC did what Jones didn't, can't and won't do.

DC is the face of this sport right now. You see him in every show and in every event and now after the Saturday fight no one will stop DC from becoming not just the most succesful fighter ever but super succesful after his retirement.

<DC-Champ>
Daniel is awesome.
He just isn't the GOAT.

I don't necessarily think DC is the GOAT, but I don't understand people bashing him. He's one of the nicest guys in the sport and he's a damned good fighter and commentator. I wish he had more quality HWs to test him to see just how good he is. He's kind of like prime Tyson in that he doesn't have enough quality competition to showcase himself.

Don’t understand all the hate. Seems like a good guy and impeccable champ

DC is top 3 of all time by any self respecting MMA fans standards.

Oh and anyone mention Jones ..... can go and get humbled by an elderly Iranians wrinkly tapeworm.

DCs multiple titles span 74 lbs. Conor’s belts are poop

Still not a star but yeah he is a legend at this point no doubt. But not a big draw.

Conor wasn't even a legit simultaneous champ. He never defended his belt, went 1-1 with Diaz before getting an undeserved title shot, then was stripped immediately after winning the 155lbs belt. It was all fake narrative to sell more to ignorant fans. He should've been stripped before winning the 155lbs belt, but they had to make that fake history.

DC on the other hand is a true simultaneous champ, who has defended his LHW belt multiple times, and is still actively going to defend both titles. It's shit Conor could only dream of. He couldn't even defend one title despite having two of them. He's the fake champ that the UFC made to sell more. DC is the real thing. He should be the only person called a simultaneous champ.

Bruh

I'm not gonna lie.

In the past I've hated on DC & attempted to discredit him.

His HW championship performance was amazing. He deserves all the credit in the world.

I will never call him a paper champ again.

I think people hate on him partly because he managed to become less likable in his feud with a heel Jones. It’s the classic “relatable flawed human vs. holier than thou” argument.

I don't care how much of a draw he is in US. I'm from a third world country and will never have a chance to buy a PPV. Cormier is well known over here for a sport that isn't mainstream at all. I mean it's hard to find someone that knows 5 MMA fighters and doesn't know about DC. He is in almost every UFC show and after the Saturday fight expect his exposure to grow exponentially.

I'm just afraid that fame and money will make him postpone his retirement plan for March next year. I don't want to see him lose to fighters he isn't supposed to. He mentioned in an interview recently he doesn't want to end up like Rashad but all that money and exposure he might get from a hyped show with Lesnar might change his mind and want him to go for more.
