how about the people that wear too much deodorant or axe before they come in....thats annoying as well, you end up with the smell as well....its better to come in clean with light deodorant and thats that

Damn!! The more responses I read, the more stupid I feel about not kicking the guy out right on the spot. I don't even know what the hell I was thinking.

Id give him another chance to clean up his act but if he comes in again like that then Id kcik him out.

i just washed my Gi today

just thought everyone would like to know i'm one for the cause of zero stank

just a thought...do u guys wash your gi's according to the washmark. Mine says 40Celsius and l stick to that for prevent shrinking. But on the second thought 1 of my gi's stink really well even if its washed. Anyone washing in 60C?

just wash it with more detergent

or
i've had to wash mine three times to get the stank out of it before. It's been a little while since last time, so i'll probly have to wash it at least twice.

also, throw some of the oxy crap in there. It helps defunk it.

Who the heck are you talking about?

- Woody who washed, bleached, and fabric softened his gi before last night
the white belt in the supposedly black gi, a middle aged guy. i was a bit wore out when i rolled with him but damn, that was killer. im not talking about the mild sweat smell but this was close to a bottle of Windex. im not asking for fruity soaps and hand lotion, just a cycle in the wash. i suppose i'll bring it up next time i roll with him, but last night i was more occupied with fighting for position and all that.

no problem with you or your gi, other than you guillotining me ever so often.

You know its bad when you grab up and your eyes start watering...just say NO

do any of you guys use skin shield? im just curious since most of the contact is in Gi's and all. i always used it in wrestling and am looking for my long lost pack from last year to be on the safe side. i have no germ phobia but skin diseases require anti biotics and lots of unwanted time away and etc. more a pain in the ass than rubbing on some shield before a tournament or whatever.

when i trained in wrestling, top priority was to get your ass home after and wash ASAP. you dont want sweat to dry especially sweat this isnt yours. my team kept pretty well clean and even through all that we've always had one or two kids a season getting staff or ring and missing 2 weeks for that can screw your record.

Just throw your gi in teh wash as soon as you get home. You will never get stink gi unless you have caustic sweat.

With 100% cotton gi's, you can't take any chances. Once a funk sets in, the gi might as well be burned.

My first gi I wahed all the time like 2-3x a week but I wore it for like 3 years and even though I washed it all the time after 3 years it had turned yellow from me sweating in it constantly despite being washed and I ended up burning it.

turned yellow? did you try bleaching it?

even though, three years out of one article of clothing is damn good if you compare it to most other items.

I had blue patches on it that I was afraid would turn purple or pink if I bleached it. The funny thing is is that it turnd yellow so gradully I never noticed it, rather it was people in my classs one day that were making fun of me and pointing it out. Thats when I actally looked at it compared to everyone elses gi and was shocked at how dirty off-yellow it had become.

i wonder if my black gi (arriving wed) will have any problems with the dyes and such. i plan on washing the hell out of it so i dont really care, i'm just curious. i saw blue and white as very common so i wanted to be able to stick out in a lineup if i had friends looking for me in a comp or somethin.

seems that the colored Gi's get the stink more, anyone else notice that? the blue ones in our school are the wrost offenders, followed by the black ones. the white (bleached) seem to stay the best.

I thought the gi was kinda like your hockey gear, you hang it out to dry and get some fresh air, but you don't have to wash it do you?
