I only played the first five AC games (1, 2, 3, Brotherhood and Revelations) and the combat was dogshit imo. I heard it improved a lot in subsequent games but I don’t know in what manner or if that’s true. And it’s hard to say if Ghosts’ combat is more like those supposedly better later releases or not, but let’s hope so.
Reviews seem to be praising the combat from what I’ve seen. I’m not expecting Sekiro but this looks pretty promising.

i just was hoping some quests and camps are same over and over again, but seems they are which might be boring. Alson enemies sometimes are buggy from what i have seen, they dont know what they are doing.

Thankfully I never play Ubisoft games so even if it’s like AC at least I get to cut some fools up in Japan in epic scenery.

I'm gonna guess that it's initially fun, but gets repetitive and is far too easy. It'll probably be a little more involved, and action oriented compared to AC, but given that it's a big open world game, I doubt the combat is going to be all that intricate and require much thought or strategy. It'll probably be flashy as fuck though, with lots of cool animations. It's kind of how these types of open world action games go. A little resistance at the beginning, and then you're God once you figure out the essential moves and have a bunch of upgrades.

What were their complaints about the game (no story spoilers plz)?
Just that the AI is a little bit dumb; example, if you get caught when trying to be stealthy, you can literally run into a hut (don't know the correct nomenclature) and the enemies will not know what to do, stealth is not really difficult/feels like a cheat sometimes, but that is the main gripe. I suppose it can be fixed with a patch. But I am interested in the sword-play, not so much the stealth.

I enjoyed AC and Infamous, but they get boring and old real quick.

Especially in the mid to late game. If this is similar to those, then I may have to just cancel the preorder. I dont want to play an ubisoft open world. People praise Horizon etc for being one of the better open world games, but they just ripped off the ubisoft formula and slapped some robots on it. I was hoping for something like Breathe of the Wild, has anyone compared it to that?

Looks kinda like Sekiro tbh, but being the best Sucker Punch game isnt that impressive. I cant recall an Infamous or a Sly game that Ive enjoyed for more than 5 hours. Second Son atleast had a decent story but the gameplay was boring after a while.

Are the Shadow of Mordor games like AC at all? I had a blast with those even if the combat did get repetitive at times.

Taking a pass for now, may pick it up down the road after a significant price drop. Listened to the ign Playstation podcast and while they all generally like the game there was still a lot of apologizing going on. It's samey, the exploration is boring, the stealth sucks, the story is whatever.

Dig the marketing countdown to launch:

No. The LOTR games are more dynamic and offensive. The new AC combat is more lighter and arcade like.

You should try SoW. Loved the combat in that.

Does anyone know if i start game as Japanese with eng subtitles, can i change during gameplay to english language? Heard there is lipsync or how they call it when its on Japanese and it does look like translated carton/movie

Man I just cant with open world games. I kinda wanted Sekiro but with the shine and polish of a ND game. I know thats too mch to ask for but an ubisoft open world with the same open world structure doesnt tickle me. Will buy but my expectations arent as high anymore.

I haven’t played a good open world game in a while, but this looks promising.

I just hope there are lots of side quests and random events to keep me occupied.

I was excited for this game but it just doesn’t seem that interesting . The story seems pretty bland. I was hoping for an updated version of those way of the samurai PS2 games with all the different choices and endings

I used to love the Way of the Samurai games. Part 2 is probably my favorite. I used to beat them several times a day, since you can beat it in a couple hours, just farming better swords and unlocking items.

Honestly, Ghost of Tsushima was what I always wanted Way of the Samurai to be. Instead of being stuck in just one town doing jobs, you can go out and explore more.

Yeah way of the samurai 2 was the best , the first was good but very short . 2 was a good improvement and beefed up the game

I see what you are saying about ghosts with it being larger , but it seems there is no choice , it is linear story wise . Unless I’m mistaken

TS is on site hiatus so I edited title without blessing but will be pinning in a couple days for the Community + amending for spoiler warning; I can add a poll if you guys wish it. Just let me know.
