So my female friend has been telling me she's been grabbed a few times this week, she just started at this pretty legit BJJ place. Personally I've never had a problem with this stuff. She recently even got the poon grabbed while in north/south with this guy. Another time a different guy had backmount, went for a collar grip, and accidently went under the bra and got a nipple. The guys were blue/white belts. Just sharing, thoughts?

I highly doubt it was on purpose. BJJ naturally has a lot of grabbing of various body parts for leverage, positioning, submissions, etc. A girl should expect that; it isn't meant to be sexual. She should wear a rash guard instead of just a gi and a bra under.

I always worry about doing that stuff on accident when I roll with the girl at my gym (there's only 1 in BJJ). I usually try to take it very easy on her but she's getting pretty damn good and it's not as easy as it used to be!

Second the rashguard comment.

I wouldnt go as far as saying that I "doubt" it's sexually meant, being that I wasnt there. I dont know anyone at my gym who would do that, and if they did(on purpose) then they can go suck a fat one in hell. If it happens again by the same person, she should make a huge deal about it, and make him feel like the douchebag that he is(were he doing it purposely).

Yeah, I dont know what to say beyond that having not witnessed the events, or heard your friend's commentary directly.

Your joking right???

I don't even know what to say.

Grappling/bJJ is not for you if your shy about

A) getting groped in a non sexual way
b) other peoples sweat on you
C) other peoples blood on you
D) seeing your own blood
E) athletic body odor
F) finding small hairs stuck to you

I could go on but . . . .

This reminds me of a funny story.

I was training once with a chick visiting from brazil. She was very good but still a girl so i was going easy. letting her work sweeps, mount, escapes etc.

Well I was in mount and rolled to guard, swept and started to let her work open guard. I looked down and noticed that her sports bra had shifted and her one titty was exposed.

I sort of postured up and disengaged, I let her know and she looked down at her breast, then looked me square in the eye, and with her heavy brazilian accent said "what's the matter you've never seen one before" with that she slapped on a very tight triangle. I was so shocked I almost got choked out. I tapped, then she let go, fixed herself, looked at me and said "I win"

We dont have girls at my gym so i dont really know. Although there was this one a while back who was badass and i didnt want non of that!

wow, never heard of this. i'm usually more careful when I roll with girls, I don't go as hard and try not to grab any parts that would make them uncomfortable

^^^^Thats cheating. To bad u couldnt get your sack to fall out and take the back.

LMAO!

As for the thread starter, reality is that there is always going to be some accidental contact. If it's clearly on purpose, then the offending person should be beaten. But it's grappling, and things are gonna happen. Wear a cup and some breast protectors if she's really concerned about it.

This happens occasionally when you are rolling with chicks. We have 3 or 4 girls that come regularly in our BJJ class (all hawt btw), and I've accidentally grabbed some titties or had my face shoved in their voluptuous pillows. It doesn't faze me however, and I'll simply continue without acknowledging it. If it is a particularly dead on tit grab or whatever, I'll apologize.

When its happened, they were cool with it and didn't give a shit. They know that it's going to happen, as this IS BJJ we are talking about.

And no, I didn't pop one on any of these occasions. That would have been truly embarrassing.

Yeah she really doesn't have a problem with it, she actually shrugged off every incident and kept rolling. I'd think, like hayliks said, more attention is given to not crushing or overpowering that accidents like that would be rare. I don't know though, never had anything like that happen at my gym either!

Awesome story.

In any event, I just play it a little safe when rolling with girls. It's not that hard, especially when you're taking it a bit slower and lighter like you should be against smaller, weaker opponents. Just be mindful of where your hands are (like you should be anyways) and don't worry too much about it. Now obviously, there are body positions in grappling sports which are a tad provocative, but that's part of the sport and if a girl (or guy) isn't comfortable with that, then don't roll with people of the opposite sex.

Whats a breast protector?

i find the hardest part is taking the back when you are tryin to grab both lapels up high, and passin the guard with a double under pass, when you have your face right down in their crotch.

It was most likely accidental. If they are going a bit more rough with her then she should take it as a complement because she is being taken seriously.

There are a few girls at our club and ive heard from one or two that they sometimes don't like it when the guys go ridiculously light because they don't feel like they are getting the full bjj experience.

We have one girl that also fights mma that you have to give your all or she will sub you in a second. She has some of the best technique and more fluid game than many of the other purple belts.
