So Khamzat is very good, I like the guy. I think UFC is making a mistake here.

Gerald is extremely tough fight. Khamzat might win, but Gerald has a really good chance at ending the hype train.

Not the fight I would have made, but I guess UFC gonna UFC. But I think this is a mistake on their part.

Even if Khamzat wins this, I think this is a mistake on their part. I think they are severely under-rating Gerald, and overhyping Khamzat.

I would NoT have made this fight for Khamzat, this is so fucking stupid.

It's not without risk, i agree there.

But while a loss would suck for Chimaev, it's not like Meerschaert is known for putting ridiculous beating upon people, is he?

Personally i like the fight, probably mostly because it's a super tough test for Khamzat.

>Even if Khamzat wins

Playboy already pulling out that insurance card

The guy beats two cans in short notice fights within weeks, rips of Khabib's schtick, and now the shertards start a hype train.

The guy could barely breathe post fight after a 1 round fight that he dominated. He has way too much output with GNP for his size.

Idk. Meershart took 3 rounds to sub 4'2 185 prospect Darren "Will not' Winn

Win a super high level wrestler. Winn would probably outwrestle Khamzat in MMA, and most surely in freestyle without a single out.

Trial by fire in my opinion.

So apparently, Dana is trying to book Khamzat against Gerald and Maia

Completely overlooking Gerald.

I think Khamzat hype train is ending this year almost without a doubt.

I think he had champ potential, but they gonna rush him to his own demise.

The 185 booking against Gerarld solves two issues. First is that Chimaev doesnt have to cut weight back to back. The second is that if he loses, it was at 185 so there is the UFCs out and preserves the 170 booking. I am all for the fast rise in competition because based on what he says, he is ready for top 10 so let him bang bros. Lets find out if he is legit or not. Meershart has losses but he is no joke and he is big so this is a good test. If he passes that test then Maia will be a huge one and if he wins, he will be getting top 5 right away. If it all works out, one of the fastest rises in the UFC.

Gerald is a fun fighter but he got absolutely vanquished on the ground vs Jack Hermansson. If Khamzat has even half of that success he'll win pretty effortlessly.

I think Meerschaert can win this, but it's an appropriate step up in competition for Khamzat. There's stupid hype on him based on 2 wins over nobodies, so let's actually see what he can do against an experienced journeyman that is used to taking guys into deep waters. If Khamzat does win this, and they do in fact match him up against Maia next, I don't think that will end well for him.

I thought Gerald was moving up to light heavy? And I guess the UFC is now okay with fighters jumping between weightclasses, which I think is pointless if you won't let any champ not named Amanda Nunes remain double champ (I know women's featherweight is like a 3-person division).
