"You hit the nail right on the head. Could she make the cut? Absolutely, She can make 135. She can make 130, but performing? That's another question. That right there comes down to time. She put in a lot of time for this."

"People don't realize how hard it was just to get down to 139. She had to do three-a-days every single day of the week. Sundays she had a day off, but still. Three-a-days, it's a lot. She's running, doing a lot of road work."

"If she ever said, 'You know what? I want to come down to the 135.' I think it'd be possible, but is it definite? Honestly, I don't know. The amount of work she put in to get to 139..."They basically give me a call and say, 'Hey, George, she needs to make 145'. Ok, good to go. 145. 'George, we need her at 140.' I'll get her there, If they ever called me to get her to 135, we'd come up with a game plan and obviously we'd go for it make sure Cris is fighting optimally as she makes that weight in a healthy way."

Poor, poor Ronda
...and her shadow.

It's called not hitting the weights, stop eating so damn much protein, and run. A lot.

it's not like she is losing fat now. She has to lose muscle mass to get to 135 and she can do it---but it won't be cyborg, it will be cyborg lite

I can't belive Cyborg made 139 and performed so well, it's only an extra 4 pounds to 135, I have faith she will make the cut and perform great. RIP fmbw division.

She could make 135, not in a wealthy way but she could, but the think is that she would lose a lot of advantages so she will never go down, every fighter tries to have a small advantage and they almost fucking die for it, so fuck no she will not go down. I really don`t see what the UFC will do, is there enough quality woman to create a 145 or 140 division? I don`t think so, and she said she wanted to defend her belt on Invicta.

So you think she will be the same by losing muscles (and not fat)?
The main feature on which she built her career is power, that's it. She's not technically superior, she's just overwhelmingly powerful. No more power, and she's no more a cyborg.
If she has to lose muscles, it will be very interesting to see how she performs, but I doubt she can be the same as we see now.

If the UFC is intent on pushing women in the sport, then they need to add more weight classes. It seemed to me like they capped it at 135 in order to keep the spotlight on Rousey. Now that that isn't an issue anymore, they should just at 145.

I respect Lockhart. That said she's totally won the PR battle on this issue

Guarantee you if she laid off the weights and brazilian protein shakes for a couple months and actually put the fucking effort in to make 135 she wouldn't have an issue. The girl has an insane amount of muscle mass.

I hope so. I want Cyborg to beat the smiles and ego out of everyone in that division.

Somebody needs to ask Lockhart what weight Cyborg can make with an 8% rule.

The problem is not being healthy at 135 lbs but staying healthy without losing significant strength. Anyone who competed in an individual sport knows that adjustements in weight/muscle mass/etc will affect your game. It sounds like they are not confident in the end result.

In fairness there weren't enough talented women to create a 135 division either.

4lbs at her size is A LOT of weight. Ask anyone who is trying to cut the last .5 lbs after already dehydrating what that's like.

This is the most retarded comment ever. I say that cause it just gets regurgitated all the time.

That`s not true, you had solid girls from Strikeforce who could at least make a little bit of a name for them, Ronda,Miesha,Holly(she wasn`t in strikeforce but everyone in the fight game knew her), Carmouche, Coenen, Kaufman...Some good names, Sara Mcmann...Name one 145 girl besides Cyborg who is a little bit solid has a fighter? There is no one, Coenen was the only one and she went to Bellator. The point here is, a lot of those girls that i named could make at least 140 and so the UFC could create a division and some of those could move up because 135 is starting to stabilize, the big obstacle for the UFC is that pretty much NO ONE wants to fight Cyborg, so those girls would say fuck that i could make 140\145 but i`m staying at 135, because the UFC will not pay them good money so they have no motivation to get in there. Only Miesha and Holly i believe would fight Cyborg and those 2 are contenders\champions at 135, no reason at the moment to go up.
I think she fought in the UFC because it was Brazil and they wanted to put on a legendary card, i think Cyborg will defend her belt in Invicta and who knows the next time she will fight in the UFC.

I agree.
