General Gaming Discussion, v3

Just started getting into DOTA 2. I will admit I am a complete noob, but last night I stepped it up with 27 kill and 1 death. I carried my team to victory and it was definitely my proudest moment in DOTA. We were getting pushed hard but I focused on leveling my Drow Ranger while my team suffered, but it worked out because I was able to take down the op team fully over and over.

Final Fantasy 9 has the best video game music ever. I found a collection of ff9 music called a melancholy collection on youtube and have literally just had it playing in the background for hours. Every song gives me different feels and memories.

I don't think I'm biased either,I think it's just great music. Celes theme is the only song I can think of from a final fantasy game off the top of my head that is equal in greatness.

Nostalgia is always a factor. I think FFVII tops it, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't biased. I get chills whenever I hear a tune from it, but it's totally because of the memories I have playing that game. Some choice cuts:

My nostalgia says that you just can't fuck with that.

I replayed FF7 recently and the music gave me humongous feels. Shit's just so evocative and unique. Could call it nostalgia but I can't think of another soundtrack that effects me like FF7, except maybe Mass Effect

Nostalgia is definitely a factor, the music from FFIX is what gets me but that was my 'main' FF game. Probably sunk 250 hours into it over the years.

Didnt like AC : Black Flag at first but now that Im finally figuring what the freak Im supposed to be doing its prettay, prettay good
Just learned how to do battle at sea and board other ships so now its time to rock n roll

Ooh, nice. Wonder if that update can be applied to the disc version? I was going to install the games before realising they had no controller support. Can't get used to keyboard/mouse, so this is welcome news. I hope the first game gets similar treatment, as it's a bit silly only giving the sequel a coat of paint.

Ah, looking in the comments, it could be a bit of work applying it to the disc version. Guess I'll have to pay the mouse some money and double dip.

Have you tried punching the CD key into steam to see if it'll take it. Does that for some older stuff.

Hmm. I may give that a try.

AC IV is fucking awesome. Wasn't a fan of having to raid plantations, but I loved sailing the high seas and pillaging ships. Must have put fifty hours into it.

Booted up X-COM: Enemy Unknown again. Great game, but my fuck, some of the difficulty spikes are ridiculous and just plain unfair. I'm sailing through the game with perfectly fair difficulty(classic). Losing some decent guys here and there, but it's all still managable. Even on the "very difficult" maps. Then I get to the mission where you have to storm the alien base, and nothing but absolute bullshit follows. Every enemy all of a sudden has 100% accuracy from any position on the map, and I can't hit shit. I missed a 94% shot, along with nearly every other shot I took. My snipers who have racked up 100+ kills each are now getting "panicked" and couldn't hit water if they fell out of a fucking boat.

I re-loaded the mission four times before the game just randomly decided to play fair. This game gets a lot of praise for being "tough but fair", but fuck that. It is most of the time, but it also decides when it's just going to fuck you in the ass with cheap AI nonsense. I beat that mission and felt absolutely nothing, because I knew they just randomly let me win. I haven't raged out that hard on a game in years. Fuck.

I tried playing that shit on classic once and I couldn't past the tutorial mission. Auschwitz gave people an easier ride. I've legit shed tears playing on easy

That Auschwitz line had me rolling.

*tear soaked fist bump*

I've moved on to more fair games. Ah', Mega Man 9.

What the fuck!?!?

I'm legit amazed that the game on Normal was that hard. If you had the Long War mod on, then fuck yeah. That's hard as fuck. It's literally balanced around you losing like 30% of your missions, which is fucking nuts. It's also so fucking satisfying when you win, and win decisively.

Are you using grenades much? Or armor? Or cover? I will say that one of the most overlooked abilities in the game is the Smoke Grenade. Saved my soldiers so many times.

Played Forza Horizon 2 on XBONE. Quit after I got to the Off-Road races. WTF did they add these stupid "cross Country" races for? It's fuckin Forza not Dirt 4 or god damn WRC or Colin McCrae (RIP) Racing.

I didn't want to put the difficulty down on these races for the "driveatars" as it would feel like cheating. But at the end of the day I felt cheated by the game so I haven't played it since.

Haven't played a game all week. Got bored of GTA V. Can't play ME3 MP cause my controller on my Xbox 360 has screwed the pooch again.

Hmm maybe I'll dig into Dragon Age Inquistion FINALLY, before Rare Replay is released. Hopefully have enough games to tide me over till Nov. 10th. Hnnggg.

I'm in the camp that had so much fun playing ME1, ME2, and especially ME3 that the ending didn't even come close to ruining the game for me. After it all went down I thought "C'mon, you could have done better guys", but that didn't detract from the rest of the entertainment I got from the games.

I still am waiting for another game to do what Mass Effect did for me. I was so fucking pumped to get home and play ME3 each day when it came out.

Final Fantasy as a whole is probably un-touchable in terms of soundtrack quality. FF9 overall I thought was one of the weaker ones but is still a classic compared to most games. I would say Final Fantasy Tactics has the best overall OST though. Dat Apoplexy and The Pervert tracks.

9 is arguably the best OST ff has to offer imo. Music fit perfectly with that game. i can understand some saying they don't like it but i don't think i've ever heard anyone say it's one of the weaker ost. Any particular reason you don't like it as much as others?

Oh good it's not just me, trying to play XCOM this time on Classic, it's a killer. Squad wipes all over the place.

@Hyperglide: DAI was superb.

The main game has PLENTY of shit for you to do, and the expansion is pretty involved and feels like Dragon Age: Skyrim.
