General Gaming Discussion, v3

did you like it the first time?

i tried playing on ps3 and just wasn't for me.

I got rid of my PS3 right before TLoU came out. Playing it now on PS4 and am bored as hell with it. I love story driven games, but it's too slow for my taste. Gonna stick with it since this hot emo chick keeps telling me, "It will get better, trust me" , though I have yet to be sucked in by it. For a game with such high praise...I can barely manage to play it for more than an hour.

I completed this recently and thought it was a slog too. Decent enough stealth 'em up but plotwise it was cheap and stale. Tell the emo chick to GTFO

Im playing legend of grimlock 2 really liking it. Has rpg elements, decent puzzles, combat is alot different to normal games tho its kinds like 1st person grid. controls are very hard to get use to also.

I played the first Grimrock and loved it. Total Eye of the Beholder vibe, which is awesome. Forgot that the second one was coming out. Will get for sure.

Wish they'd make more old style games like this.

Yea, i won't deny its a quality made game.

But never understood the whole "game of the generation" shit. Thing for the first few hours is barely a game at all. Sit and watch cinematics, and in game scripted events.

I love the game my favorite game after mass effect. I can see why people don't like it but I love it the story is great like a movie and it's fun game to play. It does take a minute to get into the game but once it get's going I love it.

I just started a new play through recently with new game+. The only thing I don't like is that in survivor and grounded mode they remove the option to see near by enemies. I don't like that because the game then becomes way to scary for me and I'm not into being scared.

playing TLoU for my first time. Finally got to the university.

ansolutely love the game. ONce I'm done its time to finish off Alien: Isolation

Sort of on this note I saw that they've begun videogame-izing dem Fighting Fantasy novels, starting with Forest of Doom. It's cheaply done but does the trick, and I feel all nostalgic since I was all about that shit when I was a kid. Hopefully they do a lot more

Yeah, man. I loved those books. I've got a couple in game form on my phone. Just shake the phone to role the dice. They're pretty cool.

I completed Saints Row 2 to see what the fuss was about (Huge Saints Row 3 fan) and it was pretty boss. I can see why some would be upset at the silliness of 3 & 4, and I preferred the more realistic tone of 2 as well. I might buy a 360 and try out SR1

Glad you enjoyed it. It's easily my favorite 2-player online co-op game. Imo, SR2 > SR1 >>> SR3 >>>>>>>>>SR4.

Did you ever play stonekeep i'd love a remake or sequal to that game.

Yup. Great game. I played a lot of those games. Ravenloft: Stone Prophet was awesome as well. Would be awesome if TSR or D&D would release a bunch of them on one disk.

Playing fire emblem awakening. Really enjoying it so far. Great music. Characters seem interesting. Liked that I could somewhat customize my character. Really missed playing tactics games like this. A little dialogue heavy, but I did just start. Nobody has died yet but they have actually come close a few times.

Update. This game is refreshingly difficult but in a FAIR way. The enemy goes for the weakest units every chance they get. Even on normal difficulty if I want a perfect battle (no deaths, get new character) I have to be careful. I had to restart a battle a few times this morning actually. In the future I think I will let my characters die. But since im still learning I restart.

I decided to try something new, so I picked up the Silent Hill HD collection after hearing that it was patched.

SH2 still controls like a tank.

sh2 is one of my all time favs just based on storyline and atmosphere and the enviroments. But the controls and combat elements are beyond primitive.

It's still the best horror game.

agreed. SH2 had separate difficulty settings for the combat and the puzzle solving. I would put the combat setting on easy and the puzzle solving on difficult. That helped alleviate some of my frustration with the combat system and allow me to enjoy the game more. I mean i would feel actual tension when the world would meta morph into hell and the story was truly engaging. There was actual psychological elements to the game beyond just shooting monsters. Best horror game ever.

I switched it up so I run by default instead of walking, so much easier haha

I just got to the apartment building for the first time.
