Who would have thought that getting hit in the head repeatedly would have negative long term effects

You guys are pieces of shit.

Once we have more long-term data, this sport may not last.

Terrible... Pioneer and Warrior. The guy had some wars in the ring/cage. This is fighting... a dangerous sport.

Sad but at the end of the day his name will live on because the sacrifices he made.
The mma community will never forget, better than being a nfl player that gets cte and does some crazy shit.
Nfl fans don't give a fuck a month later

Always terrible to hear this kind of thing. Sadly he won't be the last high profile MMA fighter to go through this.

On the off chance you read this... Thanks for all the amazing fights over the years Gary. I'm sure the whole fight community wishes you nothing but the best... even the dipshits and trolls of sherdog.

You're surprised by that? This is one of the most irreverent communities I've experienced.
Yes, I thought people were out for shock value here, but this is just low class.

Stand and bang, Gary! You will be remembered, even if you have no memory of victory!

A true legend of MMA.

I hope the next generation of combat athletes learn from the experiences of Ali and Goodridge and train smarter with the intent of minimizing brain trauma.

I have a strong feeling most fighters will get CTE. Even a single knockout can cause big damage in the long run let alone the repeated blows to the head in the gym and in fights.
