I'm fine with going for something smaller as long as it can house the GPU. The Strix is pretty big. Any recommendations will be welcome because I don't actually care about the way it looks. The last one was an RGB mess and I mean it's flashy and all, but I just don't care.Similar set up to me, except I did 13700 / 4080 card. The video editor i use maxes out my CPU and does about 60 to 80% GPU usage, but apparently software limitations make going beyond that not worth it. The 5000T case is gorgeous, though I have had a few buggy moments with the icue software and disobedient beeps. It kind of went away on its own tho, I probably didn't do a reboot when I should have or something.

I don't use video editors, so based strictly on gaming what do you recommend? Also what mobo?I dont' have any buyer's remorse around the 5000T. I actually got a much more high end motherboard than you did as I wanted this PC to last me a decade with a video card upgrade maybe 5 or 6 years into its life. A big case gives a lot of flexibility. The space seems great for temperatures too, CPU wise I'm never going over 70 at full load, and GPU wise, really surprised only going about 60 when gaming. I could probably try to overclock lol , I had a microATX prior and a 1070, hitting 80 degrees plus on the GPU was par for the course every time playing a remotely demanding game.

I have a Ryzen 7 5800X which is awesome. If a 4090 wouldn't bottleneck it I'd just get the card, because the current rig is nice. BUT I don't know if it'll fit. The case is an iCUE 5000x. My 3080 Ti doesn't press against the side but I know the 4090 is wider. If you dont game you can go well down the CPU table I think. Single thread performance still kind of rules the CPU landscape for gaming, so like a i5 13400 intel I think is considred the best bang for the buck, a 16 core/32 thread PC sees very little value for a set up designed for gaming. My mobo is Asus ROG Hero - I just liked all the connectivity mostly, kind of future proofs to an extent external harddrives etc.

I’m a big fan of Lian Li cases. For that price I think you should give them a look. I have a case from both Corsair and lian li and definitely like my li case more.Hey any thoughts on this build? Possible bottlenecks, etc?

With the caveat that an early generation mobo will probably need a bios update to support the newest chips, and your manufacturer may not bother.I’m a big fan of Lian Li cases. Other than that, I’m not sure how that mobo is but just make sure you’re getting one that’s solid quality. One big advantage to going AMD for your CPU is that they support their sockets usually for 4-5 generations. That means in a couple of years if you feel like your 7950 is lagging, it’s just as easy to upgrade as your gpu.

Again, I will strongly voice my objection to the 7950X (or 7950X3D) as a CPU choice for strict gamers.I don't use video editors, so based strictly on gaming what do you recommend? Also what mobo?
Thanks man. I do recall you said the 4090 would not bottleneck a 7 5800X so I think I might just plug and play.Again, I will strongly voice my objection to the 7950X (or 7950X3D) as a CPU choice for strict gamers.
As I've written previously, maybe driver updates down the road will utilize the extra cores, but that's pure speculation on my part. For now, the fact is, these CPUs turn off half their cores when they run games. Just straight up put them into "sleep" mode.
I think it can at under 4k resolutions, so if that interests you a faster CPU could benefit you. I mean the fps will be insanely high anyways. Thanks man. I do recall you said the 4090 would not bottleneck a 7 5800X so I think I might just plug and play.
Does it fit in the same socket?I think it can at under 4k resolutions, so if that interests you a faster CPU could benefit you. I mean the fps will be insanely high anyways.
The 7800x3d is coming out real soon. It’s supposed to be 400-450 I think. That would probably be my recommendation for a gaming centric PC depending how it actually turns out.
As the 7950x yes. As the 5800x3d no. You’re building a new pc right?Does it fit in the same socket?
Well I was thinking about it but if there's a way to make the 5800X work with a 4090 I'd keep the majority of the rig.As the 7950x yes. As the 5800x3d no. You’re building a new pc right?
Just do what the cool kids do and get an i5 13400 (or 13600k if you want to overclock).Well I was thinking about it but if there's a way to make the 5800X work with a 4090 I'd keep the majority of the rig.
