Damnit I've still got the new pc bug. I want to dump money into something that can play 2020-2025 AAA titles in 4k but I know I play less and less of them each year. I patiently waited with excitement for COD, BF, etc and then when they come out I say nah, looks shitty I'll wait for the next one.

A fool and his money.

TSMC To Produce Intel Core i3 CPUs on 5nm Process Node in 2H 2021, 3nm Mainstream & High-End CPUs Enter Mass Production in 2H 2022
In a presser, TrendForce has announced that as per their investigation, TSMC will be mass-producing Intel's next-generation entry-level, mid-range and high-end CPUs on its 5nm and 3nm process nodes. Intel has already announced that it will be outsourcing several of its non-CPU chips to 3rd party foundries but this major news confirms that they are planning to move even their biggest product lineups to external fabs.

It looks like after Alder Lake in 2H 2021, Intel will be moving to TSMC as its prime partner in mass-producing its next-generation CPU lineup. The press release states that Intel's Core i3 CPUs will be the first mass-production lineup made at TSMC and will be utilizing its 5nm process node. Do note that mass production doesn't exactly means a hard launch and we might end up getting these chips later around 2022. With that said, Alder Lake CPUs will focus on high-performance while utilizing the 10nm Enhanced SuperFin process node.

But Intel plans to shift its entire mid-range and high-performance lineup to TSMC by 2H 2022. The next-generation processors will be featuring the more advanced 3nm process node from TSMC & will be the successors to the Alder Lake lineup. It is not known whether these will be mobility or desktop parts but from the looks of where things are headed, Intel might utilize TSMC for mass production of both segments.
TSMC's monopoly on the actual manufacture/fabrication of designs is nearly complete. Only Apple and Samsung will be left making their own chips, and Samsung has already fallen behind.

The Chinese upstarts, on the other hand, are still a joke outside the budget class, but they make frightening gains with each passing year.

88" is obviously too big to sit close to. I tried to play with a kb+m mouse from across a room before and hated it. Maybe I'm just weird, though

As someone who couch gamed with a Pc from 2008 till 2013. Functionality is mainly on the game played.

I could see that. It's totally fine if it's a game that's good with a controller, but those are for plebs...

Entire time i didnt use a controller. Didnt even use one of those TV tray style mouse/keyboard setups. Just placed the keyboard on my lap with the mouse right next to me.

I actually prefer tiny tvs. The one in my living room is only 43 inches even though I've got the space for a significantly larger screen. The extra cost just isn't worth it to me because as long as the picture is big enough such that I can make out all the details I'm happy. Anything bigger just ends up feeling like a hassle.

That basically means I'm never going above 4k, and I only just bought my first 4k tv last week.

lolz @ 8k gaming TVs/monitors when there are barely 4k 120s.
I was about to ask, at what point in the resolution game is there the point of diminishing returns.

I can tell the difference between 480 to 720 to 1080 to 4k but I can't imagine past that being able to notice a huge difference.

One thing I keep hearing is the 3060 are going to show up at Micro Center or B&H photo potentially soon like a few days or wait till Feb for the 3060. Just throwing that out there because it's still possible. Who knows a lot of rumors running around.

I live outside SLC. Nearest MC for me is Denver so I either have to use Best Buy or local shops.... or Internet.

Apparently a big shake up at Intel the CEO stepping down and some development people are leaving the company. They are bring back a former VP to take the helm Patrick Paul Gelsinger in Feb. I guess the final straw was the fact they still have not moved to 10nm and are still have problems. Paul Gelsinger has been working at VMWare for sometime. He took the job after EMC Spun it off as an independent company. Paul had already taken a VP position at EMC and was inline to take over from Tocci but when Dell took over EMC it ended that talk and Paul moved to become CEO of VMWare.

Yeah people are still chasing the Crypto mining pipe dream, making rigs with 10 outdated GPU's thinking they'll strike it big, but the only thing they'll strike big is their power bill.

Well this guy claims to be making 20 grand a month before his electric bill to 6,500 a month or something after. Its made up of 78 RTX 3080's and stories like this just makes it harder to find GPU's.
