If everything is on the up and up, the value is there. Pretty exciting times compared to the last two GPU launches, imoHoly crap, it’s like there’s more news about this launch every morning! It’s been a while since I’ve bern this excited about pc components
Yeah I thought the 2000 series was pretty boring. The 1000 cards were great though. quite a big leap over the 900sIf everything is on the up and up, the value is there. Pretty exciting times compared to the last two GPU launches, imo
Jay's two cents says AMD could be dead on these prices because they are not the bargain price leader because the 3070 crushes the GTX 2080 TI. He explains that the 3090 has double the performance of the Nvidia Titan for a thousand less. He believes the RTX 3060 could outperform the 2080 for around 350 dollars. He thinks they will be available in Oct.

I think AMD is going to come out swinging on raw power but they’re going to be lacking in features and newer technologies.
I think AMD going to have problems while they been working hard on getting Ray tracing going on chip Nvidia already moving to game buffering an processing on the GPU. AMD seems to be a step or two behind NVidia.
The other monster in the room is Apple sucking up all the life out of TSMC chip foundry. AMD only source of 7nm production is TSMC Nvidia went with Samsung even though 8nm vs 7 its based on a new production process. It seems to be a reasonable compromise while insuring a steady stream of chips vs fighting with the Apple monster. I heard Jen specifically said Nvidia could not risk dealing with massive shortages again.
Man if the 3070 turns out to be as good as the rumors are saying, that will feel like a kick in the dick for anyone who bought a 2080 Ti.

Sell me your TI. I wanna upgrade my 6600k and 1070.Is this the time to upgrade from my 1080ti?
i just wanted to share a little story on the importance of troubleshooting EVERYTHING. my pc stopped working after i moved it from one room to another. MOBO lights came on but no fans would spin. not the cpu, not the gpu, not the chassis. i drove me crazy. i cleared cmos. same issue. i unplugged all connections. same thing. i took it completely apart. still same thing. i went and bought a new PSU, still the same fucking issue. i was a few hours away from saying fuck it, going to microcenter, and dropping $500 on a new mobo and ryzen bundle. i decided to try one last thing. plugged everything in. grabbed my screwdriver, referenced my mobo manual to see where the power switch pins were. shorted that. BAM. now everything works. my dumb ass went and told my wife it worked.
in hindsight i should have kept my mouth shut and went and got a new ryzen x570 mobo and 3600x (i have a b350-f and a 1700x). lesson learned. next time just say i cant fix it and buy new lol
I had this same exact problem, except I plugged a case fan into the wrong outlet and it somehow shorted out the whole circuit lol.i just wanted to share a little story on the importance of troubleshooting EVERYTHING. my pc stopped working after i moved it from one room to another. I think part of the reason Nvidia went with Samsung is that Apple will never work with Samsung ever again. Apparently that could have something to do with Apple not being able to jump over Samsung phone line specifically the high resolution cellphone screen after that Apple went back to LG. I think Intel has a winner on their hands but Nvidia just on another level with the way they make stuff work. Everyone questioned "Including me" why take up so much real estate on the chip with AI stuff but seeing how it is contributing in unique ways towards image quality. Nvidia got a huge winner on their hands with the 3XXX series and I bet they will be really hard to get your hands on one.and it's strange, supposedly samsung has atrocious yields at 7nm and smaller. apparently their semi-custom 8nm or whatever this is don't have this issue, or so the prices indicate.
i'm still waiting to see the details on big navi and etc, but these are quite impressive. probably another generation of nvidia having the better cards and amd having better perf:$, but we'll see. amd might have to get creative.
the consoles' GPUs seem in a weird place right now. or amd's new GPUs are. i'm kinda stoked, either way.
edit: and lolz @ intel's "launch" that... wasn't. i don't even understand why they had an event. no release dates, no prices, no real benchmarks, no questions/answers. intel gonna intel.
