Tech Gaming Hardware discussion (& Hardware Sales) thread

Up until now, I've figured that Cyberpunk2077 on PS5/XBX would look comparable to gaming PCs. Slightly but noticeably inferior.

Based on this trailer, nope.

If a RTX can play CP2077 at these 'Ultra' graphics settings, while still keeping a high framerate (90+FPS), its going to demolish whatever the PS5/XBX will be capable of doing.

Unless... possibly... CDPR have been tinkering with what the new consoles are able to do and will be giving their releases a full year of development after the PC/PS5/XB1 while working on DLC & Expansions.

Oh who am I kidding after that trailer.

I'm really tempted to grab a 3080, but I kind of want to go the whole hog and get a gen 4 ssd and GPU which means a new PC.

JayzTwoCents commented that if the 3090 is truly meant to be the successor to the Titan as opposed to the 2080 Ti then that means it’s a full $1000 cheaper than a Titan. That’s pretty impressive.

Impressive gains.. but its just for bragging rights if you think about it. I doubt a $1500 GPU is going to have people running to stores and change the market.

AMD however, is featured in the PS5 and new Xbox....
Indeed, at that price, even after a two years, it will probably command less than 1% of the Steam user market. The same is true of every generation. The xx70 and xx60 cards are the ones that everyone buys. A few PC gamers out of a hundred will buy the xx80 card.

Still, it's impossible not to get excited. With that kind of processing power in the 3090 and 3080 we're talking about 4K@144Hz gaming becoming a reality. Hell, everyone with these GPUs will probably be bitching about CPUs because every game they play with be CPU-bound. Suddenly Zen 3 is vital.

They’re still not out so who knows which ones will be a good value. I’m excited though, they look really promising

still rocking the 1080 Ti, which honestly is still crushing it

Really glad I did not buy already. Was going to grab a 2070 Super, but now I will wait until october and do the 3070. That price point is nuts.

The prudent approach is to wait to see review, but yes.

It's a good thing you held off upgrading as you were considering a few months ago. The opportunity cost was enormous.

Yeah I think the 20** series was the biggest interest free loan Nvidia have ever got. Doubled their prices for adding ray tracing.

Not surprising wall street going bonkers on tech stocks Apple, Amazon, Tesla and tons of others like Nvidia are hitting all time highs. Though Stallworths like Intel I have not heard much. Apple rolling out an A14 powered laptop with a 17 hour run time could be a sign of things to come. They claim I believe the A14 is within a nose hair of an current i5 performance wise.
GPU prices coming way down.

Facebook going after console crowd by pricing the quest 2 at 299. For 128 gig version and 399 for the 256 gig version. Substantial price cut from the original models. Walmart accidentally posted the prices ahead of schedule. This also points to Facebook efforts not to be so spec driven but more affordability.

Nvidia just took another giant shit on Sony, Microsoft and AMD. Least in this current generation they gave them six to twelve months before releasing the 970GTX. Now theyre beating them to market with the 3000 series.

PC noob here: How much would a complete pc with a 3070 or 3080 cost me?

Based on current news around 1,100 to 1,400 with 32 gigs of ram and latest m2 storage memory "3070" expect the 3080 to run about 200 dollars more. Big price drop over previous generation.

The 3070 blows the doors off of the RTX 2080 super wow going to lead to a lot of upset people but makes it much easier for people to buy decent performance for relatively affordable price at 500 dollars. I can now see myself forking over 500 dollars for the RTX 3070 card for my simulator then buying anything in the 20XX series.

EDITL RTX 3090 Nvidia at "1500 dollars" not saying much leading many to believe that the RTX 3090 may be a really slow seller compared to their other model cards.

Will wait what AMD has to say with their big Navi. Then pick the best card. I like the 3080 out of the Nvidia range (3090 too pricey, since I'll be getting both new monitor and graphics card at the same time, and those 4k 144hz monitors ain't cheap)

So it starts people trying to sell off £1200 cards for half price..

Nobody in there right mind is going to buy these cards now, hopefully anyways. RIP 20 series.

Jay's two cents says AMD could be dead on these prices because they are not the bargain price leader because the 3070 crushes the GTX 2080 TI. He explains that the 3090 has double the performance of the Nvidia Titan for a thousand less. He believes the RTX 3060 could outperform the 2080 for around 350 dollars. He thinks they will be available in Oct.
