3090 price isn’t bad since it’s replacing the Titan.
 
Damn 3070 will be 499. Might have to upgrade now from my 1070
 
Ive read that the 3070 will be about as fast as a 2080 Ti. Could be almost time for me to rejoin the master race

It would appear so. There are still some key details missing. Transistors and TMUs haven't been quoted for assessing traditional power though outlets are already reporting 20.4 TFLOPS as its raw horsepower. That's not a little bit more powerful than the RTX 2080 Ti. That's a massive leap. The RTX 2080 Ti sports 13.45 TFLOPS.

Is it replacing the Titan? I'd still expect them to drop a new Titan. It will probably be $3K or some absurd figure. Nobody cares, nobody buys it.

The position is sort of irrelevant. The reason $1499 isn't too disappointing a price hike over the RTX 2080 Ti is because the RTX 2080 Ti never truly sold for its launch MSRP ($999) in new condition, as you can see below from the PCPP average price history tracker (the entry range was almost always from $1100-$1200), and because if these figures are accurate, this is a moon landing sized improvement in horsepower over the previous generation.

PS5 = 10.29 TFLOPS (teehee)
RTX 2080 Ti = 13.45 TFLOPS
Titan RTX = 16.31 TFLOPS
RTX 3090 = 35.7 TFLOPS

That's the largest gain between generations I've ever seen. For reference, treating the RTX 3090 like the flagship mainstream card, going back to the GTX 580 launched a decade ago in November 2010. The percentile gains per generation in terms of FLOPS in reverse chronological order:
  • RTX 3090 = 35.7 TFLOPS (+ Ray-Tracing)
    = +165.4%
  • RTX 2080 Ti = 13.45 TFLOPS (+ Ray-Tracing)
    = +18.6%
  • GTX 1080 Ti = 11.34 TFLOPS
    = +87.1%
  • GTX 980 Ti = 6.06 TFLOPS
    = +13.4%
  • GTX 780 Ti = 5.345 TFLOPS
    = +64.5%
  • GTX 680 = 3.25 TFLOPS
    = +105.6%
  • GTX 580 = 1.581 TFLOPS

Impressive gains.. but its just for bragging rights if you think about it. I doubt a $1500 GPU is going to have people running to stores and change the market.

AMD however, is featured in the PS5 and new Xbox....
 
3090 is completely impractical and essentially masturbatory but that 3070 is almost too good to be true.

I’ll still keep a PS5 for obvious reasons but damn, a GPU with that kind of power at that price is incredibly tempting.
 
Never bought a founder’s card, but, might have to get that 3080. Since I gifted my old one to my son, that means I can splurge... yea, sounds right

anyone have a founder’s cards? How they work out for you?

Damn, so it's an even bigger jump over Turing than Pascal was over Maxwell.

I had an FE 1080 Ti and it was fine besides the louder cooler. I never mess around with OC'ing though. Sold it since I'm still content with 1080p/60 FPS.
