Games where you play as the bad guy

Planescape: Torment still has the most satisfying Bad Guy playthrough for me.

Although some of the Imperial storylines in Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO were pretty stellar, narratively. Especially Agent and ......sorceror? Forget the name.

Punching the reporter as Commander Shepherd in Mass Effect
You can play as an absolute cunt in ME. I didn't, I was a good guy with a temper. Punching that reporter was very satisfying though.

Yeah I pretty much played as Paragon in all my playthroughs but I always punch the reporter

One that haven't been mentioned yet is Vampire Masquerade: The Bloodline

Old game but it was really fun. Especially when you get to be a powerful vampire. People would ask you for help and you cast a spell paralyze them, suck their blood, take their money and then kill them for good measure. The more evil things you did you would get closer to your dark side and become stronger in certain ways. You could be a real jerk on that one

But of course you could also choose to do the right thing

I mean, playing renegade in itself does not make you a bad guy in ME. You can still be a good guy, just more brutal. Only some of the renegade choices do.
for example sabotaging genophage cure and killing Mordin is straight up evil

True, there is also one side mission in the first game that you can only do as a full renegade so I think I will be playing as Renegade in my next playthrough

The game that I found most fun to be a total prick in was Fallout New Vegas. I normally play a good-ish guy, but if choices are present, and I play more than once, I'll like to try and be an asshole.

New Vegas makes role playing extra fun because of how your deeds are recognized by NPC's, however you choose. I wish more games did this.

On my last run, I was influenced by this guy's video. I think I only watched the first 15 minutes before deciding to fire it up again and do my own version of a psychopath. I'm sure it wasn't much different from his.

If you're bored at work, give it a watch, it's pretty funny.

I felt like the bad guy in Mortal Shell.

If I remember the lore, protag (you) is essentially a creation spawned by two demigods to fulfill a purpose of controlling masses. This is why you assume different bodies (i.e., shells) throughout play; you’re tantamount to an enslaved parasite or ghost and perform to the will of your masters.

I remember thinking how cool it was in the special edition that they replaced boss scoring with Rotting Christ tracks (death metal). The band is all about how religion is a malicious instrument of control, which vibes with the game narrative as I interpreted it.

Historical moment in bad guy gaming
