Television Game of Thrones S08E06 Discussion Thread: Burn them all! (the writing staff) | Our Watch has ended

Did Ned Stark think Jorah disrespected the North when he got knighted? Since they don't do that, it's not their custom.

So the unsullied just left

Why not hide jon out and then when they leave he just pops back up like surprise

I don't understand what the theme of this show is supposed to be
Or rather, what IT actually was I k kw what it's supposed to be

As much as things changes, they stay the same, Similar to The Wire ending with McNulty just staring at Bodymore, Murdaland in baffled disbelief.

So, no WWs, the Wildlings are cool, there is a gaping hole in the wall ...

... yet, we still need a nights watch?

How did tormund know jon is gonna be there?

Tormund was chilling at Castle Black already. He told Jon that’s where he’d stay for awhile before heading North when they were leaving Winterfell.

Yeah poorly done though
Because things didn't stay the same
Except they did
Except they didn't

The Wire is different in that every arc is basically circular and that's shown throughout the show in every finale

I’m sad the show is over in this way, this epic show.
Dany deserved better, the great queen overcomes all that she did and just took a dagger to the heart.Feel bad for her since i think she is the lesser of evils in this GOT world.

So the slavers in Astapor will resume their trade, the Mereneese nobles will start their bullshit, there will be war all over and millions will die again fighting Daario, the unsullied and the Dothraki.Chaos.
How is this supposed to be the better alternative?

Way to go Jon.
Robb Stark, Jon Snow was killed in a similar way. Dagger to the heart by someone they trusted. As much as things change they stay the same.

How long before the people of Westeros and the Dothraki go to war? There's no way thousands of them who were just in a blood lust rage can all a sudden coexist with the common people.

They really needed their own Gray Worm.

Always felt that GOT was a poor man's Lord of the Ring spin off

mehhh. i love both series, but GoT is different.

GoT was really the first pop culture story imo, that truly made you feel like no character was safe, and they werent. both fantasy, but thrones was more raw than LOTR.

I believe they did. The Mad Queen was killed ala Mad King, The north received it's independence again, there's a small council and the 6 kingdoms all have rulers who plot and scheme together as they have for 1000 years.

Agreed. the writing was poor.

I think it's interesting the show made a point of showing The Lannister's bodies but no one knew where Dany and Drogon was. Maybe the show will be relaunched at some point. There's lots of major players left.

That's not really the same thing as the more things change though. But I see your point

My bigger point is about the execution

I'm not sure I get what your saying here? I think they setup the idea that Dany attacking Euron at that moment would be dangerous, I mean you can say why didn't she attack in the way she did in the finale I spose but I think that's a certain degree of artistic licence on a subject the show has not played up as highly logical, maybe she thought about the best way to attack in the meantime? maybe she was even more vengeful?

As far as Cersei goes that situation was under parlay, similar to say Stannis meeting Renley and neither attacking the other dispite being willing to, its a medieval convention akin to the idea of not killing a guest and breaking it publically is a very large faux pas. Added to that of coruse Drogon is present and if Dany is killed the chances he attacks are high, at that point Cersei is hoping to avoid a direct attack.

I think a big issue really with pointing out plotholes is does the film/show in question put important on logic in that area? I mean something like the Resistance politics in Last Jedi for example I think the film does put importance on the idea of Holdo's plan, that she keeps her mouth shut about it even as Poe is staging a mutiny makes no sense.

You could point out that time and again armies in Game of Thrones get caught out by "supprise charges" when really they should have scouts to warn them but my counter would be the show has never looked to present its battles as ultra realistic. Battles have a tactical side to them but its not focused on to the nth degree.
yeah, nah... I'm not reading all of that. Season 8 still sucks balls.

This season and last feel like a strange adaptation of an adaptation (the first 4 and a half seasons)

I dont know if there's really been a show that's felt that way

The only thing that's close is Brian herbert taking over for his dad in Dune

Or the dude that finished wheel of time

Why did prisoner Tyrion decide everything lol.

And how did they know that Jon killed Dany? There was no evidence. Did he seriously walk out and say "Oh yeah, I stabbed yer queen and killed her. The dragon took her. Sorry lol"

i think the show is gonna age better once the shippers/fanfic writers get a hold of themselves

with that said i think the right things happened for the most part even if some of the execution was pretty mediocre

still with how these last few seasons have been GOT isnt anywhere near a GOAT level show and thats okay. Still a fun ride.

Hopefully Euron does some crazy shit in the books to lead up to the ending with all of whats been built up for him
I'm having dinner with my wife atm, and she just admitted that this season was horrible. After a month of me complaining. Non-fanatic watchers like my wife would still see it as shit.

Why did Sam have a vote in the counsel?

At that point, I assume he was acting as a mouthpiece for the people of Horn Hill? It's weird since being in the Night's Watch and being a maester preclude him from titles.
