Media Gaethje will not let Conor skip the line for a TS

i can not blame Charles for wanting to fight the biggest cash cow the sport has ever seen. i blame the UFC for allowing it to happen
Maybe... but Justin is definitely a hero for standing up to this corruption in the name of the sport. I can't say the same for Olivera.

Oliveira should accept the fight, but make it clear no title will be on the line

If Gaethje beats Do Bronx, I doubt he'd turn down a couple million to fight Conor over a few hundred grand to fight Islam or Dariush. Dude's got pride, but I wouldn't blame him for taking the money.

You're numbers are very off but your point still stands. Gaethje made 300k beating Chandler, if he contends vs Oliveira in a PPV main event he most likely, as a big profile fighter gets PPV points as a contender, which if the card does well is around 750k ontop of 300k, so as a contender vs Oliveira he'll probably break a mill. If he beats Oliveira, he gets to rework his contract, bigger % cut and higher base pay as champion, probably makes 1.5-2m fighting Islam. Vs Conor I dont know they do it, but I know they let Conor get real pieces of revenue and he makes north of 10m fighting each time in the UFC, I'd imagine Gaethje would make around 3-5m vs Conor.

I wanted Oliveira to win, but if he's willing to join the Conor circus like Dustin then fuck him, rooting hard for Gaethje!

That would be badass. I’m hoping Gaethje beats Charles

I could see if Justin was on a win streak or something but he had just lost. As epic as the Chandler fight was it was still only one win and over a guy that was also coming off a loss. Tony won 9 straight and never got the shot. Look how many Charles had to win to get a title shot. Justin literally just fought for the belt and got dominated and is now on a one fight win streak.

Honestly nobody "deserves" the next title shot enough to complain about anybody else getting it at this point.

For being such a tough bastard in the cage Justin seems to get his feelings hurt rather easily.

Remember, Gaethje had the chance to fight Conor before he fought Khabib and he snubbed him. He's a man of principle and really doesn't seem to like Conor.

“I would absolutely not allow him to fight for the title,” Gaethje said. “He did not win and go through the process. He’s not gonna sh*t on everything that we – there’s too many. Beneil Dariush, Islam Makhachev, those are the guys that we fight. Not Conor McGregor. That’s not how this works. He’s becoming more and more irrelevant as time goes on. Pretty soon you won’t even be asking me these questions. It’s gonna be a beautiful f*cking day.”
gathje is terrified of conors left hand

This^^
Conor never really had that much power in the UFC, he just gave the illusion of it to fans.
For example, when Conor leaked Dana's DM chat in the second half of 2020 it clearly pissed him off. In retaliation he refused to let Conor fight Dustin at 170 like he did with Cowboy at UFC 246, he finally applied the logic that neither guys were ranked in that division and it would make no sense for them to fight there on full camps.

There's also the UFC cancelling Conor's fight after he didn't show up to a press event.

They were able to strip him earlier of the lightweight title, but they didn't and it slowed the division down dramatically.
If the UFC keeps allowing this, they shouldn't be complaining about divisions being inactive since they don't seem to care about fighters properly earing a TS anymore.

Why would anyone root for Conor to get a gifted title shot unless they felt it's because he wasn't good enough to earn or defend it?

I'm rooting for charles. Conor maybe getting a title shot if he wins isn't enough to make me root against him.

meh, fuck that. Blaming the UFC for making the lame money fight is fine, but you can't blame the fighter for taking it. These guys have a shelf life where they get to make good money, and you can't blame a fighter for cashing in. We'd all do it.
That's always a great point but there's a higher plane beyond prizefighting, Shermano

Dana White is a fuckin idiot for even entertaining the idea and then calling UFC a professional sport league.

That’s not how professional sports work… the president or commissioner can’t just cherry pick fights because of favoritism or potential PPV sales.

It’s always been the best fight the very best and Conor hasn’t won a damn fight since forever -> therefore impossible for him to be “the very best”.

It’s a fuckin travesty that the head of the UFC is a fucking retard and doesn’t realize this.

I don't think Dana is singularly responsible. Oliveira wants the fight, since it is the easiest fight for the most money.

Conor sells, and I can assure you that WME is more than willing to keep making exceptions for Conor.

Essentially it is a good fight for Conor, Oliveira, WME, Dana, and a bad fight for the sport and fans who hate shitshows.

Keyword PRIZE FIGHTING. He's the champ, he can get the money fight and fight challengers by their rankings after. People are either after money or the belt as fighters. If you are champion already, you go after the money if those opportunities won't be there if you don't have the belt. Olivera's money fights depends on him having the belt. It's smart for him to focus on money fights while he's the champion.
If you are champ YOU are the money fight. Granted, that doesn't nearly always equal a McGregor fight but hey, can't fault a romantic casual like myself for holding em to a higher standard than just blindly seeking which fight pays the highest

Conor, pre-Khabib would have been a dangerous matchup for Justin or Charles and both were winnable fights for him. In 2022 however, i don’t see him getting past either of them, especially Justin

I'll believe it when I see it. It's one thing to say you would turn down an easier fight for way more money because of the integrity of the sport when it is purely hypothetical and another to actually do it when it's a real offer.

Khabib was already rich from all that Oligarch and Oil Sheik money by the time he turned down the rematch with Conor so if anyone brings that up it's apples and oranges, and even in that situation where the fighter is set for life it's extremely rare to turn down the easier fight for more money.

I'm hoping Justin wins because Charles would just hand the belt over to Conor
