Gaethje needs a couple of easier fights to regroup

.

That being said he should matchup with the loser of Lee/Barboza

I've thought that too, though neither of those sounds like easy fights. I could see Barboza finishing him as he's more technincal. Lee would really test his wrestling...and maybe his submission defense.

His style also makes him an easy target for top guys who have a better fight IQ.

Sure, give him a couple fights agaisnt lesser competition and he will put on a good show. I don't see him doing anything agaisnt top guys unless he changes his style somewhat. I see him utilizing the same style agaisnt lesser competition and those wins reaffirming it works.

Yeah, that reminds me of Gonzaga and Kongo back in the day. Both were gatekeepers who would lose to an elite fighter, the crush a couple of lower-level guys. It was a continual rinse-repeat cycle.

4 or 5 hundred more punches to the head should straighten him right out .

Is Dennis Siver available to fight him?

Gaethe Nate. With Nate iron chin an cardio ........ yet pillow fists would make for a,crazy great fight. Nate couldn't hurt Gaethe an Gather would land bombs with Nate looking like zombie. Make that fight

Nate would be fucking awesome. Nate would probably never sign, but honestly Nate doesn't deserve a higher ranked guy.

he can beat a guy like chiesa or pettis for sure. those guys cant take the punishment

He needs to learn some defence and that he is a wrestler and use his stand up to get takedowns.

His last three fights have been him getting in wars and using his chin as his first defence. That is a recipe for a short career.

The saddest part about this guy is he had a chin. His chin is now on its way out. Had he changed his strategy, he could have won a belt.

I approve of his Kamikaze rout though, bc JBG

The guy is like 2-3 hard shots away from being a stumble bum.

He's been in three titanic struggles in a row now. Each one a fight of the year candidate. It's time for a bit of a break for the kid. Either that or he's going to have a very short UFC career. And, I think, he's too valuable an asset to burn out so quickly by putting him into another war right away. Let him get a couple of wins over moderate opposition then match him up with another contender later on this year.

Hafta disagree. He should never been scheduled for this fight. He needs time off.

He had 17 easy fights in WSOF.

Time to sink or swim

He doesn't need any easy fights he needs a gameplan that isn't leting his opponent gas out while beating the shit out of him.

Opponent level is not the problem. It’s his nearly non existent Fight IQ. Even if he had an easier opponent he’d still fight the same way.

It’s unfortunate about the last eye poke... I felt he had the momentum and had Porier on the ropes since he was the fresher fighter.

No excuses though... It’s shocking how he didn’t even try to clinch and panic wrestle. It should be automatic for a guy with a wrestling background as his base. Even the sorriest wrestlers like Mcgregor and Condit’s natural first instinct is to go for a takedown or hold on for dear life.

But even then he should’ve never put himself in a position to get clipped by that shot. That was basically the only way Porier was going to win at that point.

agreed. I feel like he's good enough to fight poirier and alvarez, he's just not ready.

Gaejthe is 3-0 in the UFC. He counts getting knocked out as a win and I'm not inclined to disagree with him.
