FX's FARGO Discussion Thread

This 1st episode blows. I hate stupid characters. And I definitely hate Ray for that reason.

And a Russian mob outfits forces a real estate company to launder their funds? Give me a break.

Looks like I'm not watching this season.

@Dragonlordxxxxx i finally watched true detective season 2 and thought it was pretty underrated and quite enjoyed it. A 7.5/10.

Nothing is better than Fargo, not shown yet here and I don't want to watch online yet.

We'll be a week behind.

Did you watch the other 2 seasons or the movie?

But what an A!!!

Then why are you watching a show that's for all intends and purposes based on the premise that small time criminals and crooks end up getting people killed because of how stupid they are?

All the way back to the movie... Jerry Lundegaard, Carl Showalter, Gaear Grimsrud, Lester Nygaard, Peggy and Ed Blumquist, Rye Gerhardt, Dodd Gerhardt, Simone Gerhardt... dumbasses one and all.

And a Russian mob outfits forces a real estate company to launder their funds? Give me a break.

Not anymore implausible than the entirety of Lorne Malvo's schtick.

The first two seasons had characters that did stupid things moved the plot but there were bigger things at work. For S2, the Kansas gang war was going to happen regardless if the Kirsten Dunst character ran over that guy or not.

S1/2 handled the ridiculousness of the premise of the show better than S3's premiere.

Good episode last night. The pacing seemed a helluva lot better than the premiere, McGregor fucking killed it also, I'm really starting to come around to him. Looks like we're heading in to a full blown sibling war.

V.M Varga seems like a compelling and interesting villain for this season too. I'm really enjoying his interactions and dialogue, He's still a mystery at this point though.

Is everyone skipping out on this season or something? Hardly no posts here compared to the last 2 seasons.

Who is watching?
I'm enjoying it far more than Season 2.

The Vince Gilligan influence is noticable. That slow pacing and camera focusing.. the break in scene in episode 1 was really well done.
The parole officer Ewan McGregor must have been modeled on Saul Goodman. That hairstyle, subversive tactics and characteristics. Way too similar.

This may be the first time in Fargo history that the main cop is sort of incompetent.

But It's Always Sunny folks are always welcome and Robocop alum.

Weird episode. So the step dad fled LA because he thought he murdered someone? Seems like there is more to the story there.

Yeah, I fid to believe they would waste an entire episode on just a single side story. The box with the switch and hand may mean something?

It might not be though. I wouldn't be surprised if something bigger comes out of this because of her la visit.

At the end when she found out that those people in LA had nothing to do with his death, she stated that what she just experienced was just another story and nothing else. That doesn't mean her visit was in vain.

She now is involved with the Ewan Mcgregor brothers and eventually is going to find about how one of them is getting extorted.

She did take that box with the switch with her. I think if there is going to be anything that effects the story from her visit, it's going to come from that box. Or it's just a symbol of her trip to la. She created almost a small paradox just as her and her flightmate talked about in the bar. It could be a valuable symbol for her as well.

Not sure. I think it was just an episode to explore the main character's determination, and eliminate any theory she had over the murder, in regards to the father's past. Like she realized she shouldn't be thinking too deeply about it, and simplify her investigation. All I got from it, was that she just figured out where he got his alias from. Think they were trying to relate her strife, or the father's, to the robot's in the story, but I don't know. Lots of symbolism going on in the episode, that I'm too lazy to think about right now.

Good episode, but it did feel a little unnecessary, and stand alone-ish. Let's get back to Minnesota.

I was thinking that they did a great job at casting the young and old Vivian because they found a young actress that looked like Frances Fisher. After doing some digging, I found out that the young Vivian was played by Francesca Eastwood (Heroes Reborn), Clint Eastwood and Frances Fisher's daughter.

I think we can all agree that if we had been in poor Thaddeus' place, none of us would had enough blood left going to our brains to notice Zimmerman was conning us out of our money.
