FX's FARGO Discussion Thread

Ted Danson was great

The 1st season was the shit though. The brit Martin Freeman played a great weasel as Lester, and Billy Bob was a goddamn force of nature.

Come on, Kirsten Dunst was an amazing kooky bitch. And I mean that with the utmost respect.

Meh, I don't know anything about Mary Elizabeth Winstead but Fargo is so good they can bring in anyone and i'm sure it'll still deliver.

Not very familiar with that actress tbh. But I thought she was alright in 10 Cloverfield Lane.

Also, season 1 and 2 were both amazing IMO. So definitely looking forward to this very much. IMO season 2 was one of the greatest seasons of any TV show I've seen recently.

Most excellent. Definitely a fan of Mary Elizabeth Winstead.

She fucking killed it Scott Pilgrim and 10 Cloverfield Lane. It will be very interesting to see what she can bring to a production like Fargo.

<3 Ramona Flowers <3

I'm cautiously optimistic about this 3rd season: both because it takes place in 2010, and now because it has mah girl Winstead in it.

I loved the 1st season, and thought the 2nd shit the bed really bad after the first few episodes. Mostly due to the hokey style over substance, which seemed to me inspired by the retro theme. A 2010 setting should get back to the simple hometown noir that made the film & the 1st season true classics.

You and I are reversed -I thought the 1st season was whack as fuck, and the 2nd was some of the best television I've ever seen.

Agree on being cautiously optimistic about season 3 tho.

Also, Winstead is badass. I hope she can do the show schedule wise. I've only seen her in Scott Pilgrim.. but I loved her character and the way she played it.

I have noticed Petey making some weird statements about TV shows lately. I also caught him in another thread trying to defend True Detective S2.

I'm worried that he may have hit his head or something.

You should give 10 Cloverfield Lane a look.

Nah, @Peteyandjia has been pretty consistent with his dislike of Fargo Season 2 and love for TD Season 2. Is normal.

Been meaning to, but I'm at a point where I'm just going to wait for it to hit Netflix or cable because I already know the entire story due to the Internet.

lol

BB looks so frail and sickly in this series. I just couldn't buy into him as a badass. Part of the reason I disliked the 1st season.

And for the record, I typically enjoy Billy Bobs performances.

10 CLOVERFIELD LANE's Mary Elizabeth Winstead to Star in FARGO Season 3

FX's Fargo continues to draw star power. BrainDead and 10 Cloverfield Lane star Mary Elizabeth Winstead has joined the cast of the Noah Hawley anthology, THR has learned.

The Fargo casting is in second position to CBS' summer drama BrainDead, meaning if the latter scores a second season and Fargo interferes with the production schedule, Winstead will do only BrainDead.

Season three of Fargo has been rumored to take place in 2010, following the events of the breakout drama's freshman season. It's unclear how or if it will tie into the events from the first run, though none of the stars from season one will return.

Winstead will play Nikki Swango, a crafty and alluring recent parolee with a passion for competitive bridge playing. She is a woman with a plan who is focused on always being at least one move ahead of her opponents.

Ewan McGregor will topline season three and play the dual roles of brothers Emmit and Ray Stussy in what will be his first TV series regular role. The Leftovers' Carrie Coon is set as Gloria Burgle, a practical woman who is the chief of police in Edna Valley and a newly divorced mother. She struggles to understand this new world around her, where people connect more intimately with their phones than those directly in front of them.

Production on the third installment of Fargo is set to begin later this year for a 2017 debut on FX.

Mary Elizabeth Winstead Joins Ewan McGregor and Carrie Coon in 'Fargo' Season 3

I think it's unlikely that BrainDead will get a second season. It wasn't bad, but the ratings weren't very good from what I heard.

On top of that Mary Elizabeth Winstead is also doing season 2 of Mercy Street, so she's going to be pretty busy.

As for the role proper, it doesn't take a genius to figure out from that description that she's going to be seducing the Ewan McGregor character that is a sad-sack parole officer.

yeah Kirsten's performance was also very good. They had me hooked in the first episode, I just think they went off the rails with season 2 quickly, with a lot of style over substance. It felt like they were trying to be Tarantino-y or something. I preferred the cold crime mixed with dark humor, of the 1st season & the film.

Interesting. I totally bought him. (And in keeping with our mirrored reflection of each other, I was NOT really a huge fan of him before this. He's good, but this was the performance that got me)

For me, his scaryness wasn't about his physicality, as you say he is thin and fairly unassuming; it was his absolute willingness to do anything, and kill without a second thought.

nice, Fargo Empire.

They could cast Tom Green and Hayden Christensen and I would still be hyped. Bring on season 3!
