FX's FARGO Discussion Thread

My fave scene was when he hit his wife with a fucking hammer and then doing it over and over. I was laughing as I watched him do it hahaha and it was because the sound score set my mood. And the wife's character being a total bitch didn't help.

Yep, as she was nagging on and on I said "I hope he does her" and bosh. There you go. Felt good, man.

I haven't seen the film and will not see it now so I won't spoil myself. I am hoping to see Billy Bob's character kill all the cops except the one played by Bob Odenkirk.

You talking about the school with the wildkittys as their mascot? UofGhey?

careful, that guy may respond in another 20 hours or so.... he wont be happy. maybe hes still typing...

I'm not scared. That school has a female mascot. That's right, as if they weren't big enough pussycats, they have a mascot in a dress even.

Oh and one other thing, I'm sure this has been pointed out a billion times.

I understand the relationship between a place like Fargo, ND and Minnesota is that they're almost identical anyway, but still. It's weird to me that the movie at least (and show?) take place 90% in Minnesota and yet it's called Fargo.

Some important part of the plot must take place in Fargo?

Yeah, I think it was the score that reminded me of Twin Peaks.

I watched it again with my wife last night and she said the musical score reminded her of Twin Peaks.

A small detail I caught this time that I missed the first time around; Lorne Malvo (Billy Bob) is in room 23 at the hotel. I love when a writer throws in a chaos theory reference.

The scene with the cop I do agree is largely unbelievable if you're from a well populated area. But, in a rural area where a cop's closest back-up might be an hour or 2 away it becomes a bit more believable imo. My first thought watching that scene was "Sure, the cop would just get in his car and call for back-up and the swat team or whatever would take this guy down."

But, that may not be a realistic option for cops in some areas and when it comes down to one on one, they're still just a man...or an ape.

edit; The drug cartel is from Fargo so I think it will play a part through that. Plus, Lorne is on his way to Fargo to "do a job" at the beginning but ends up staying in the MN town to kill Sam Hess.

Question- does it get better past the first 15 minutes??

Having a hard time getting into the material.

Yes it continually builds up and climaxes near the end

I liked the first episode.

I dug the quirkiness of it. Certainly gonna keep watching.
