Fury - Chisora Press conference

The July 23 fight between British heavyweight champion Dereck Chisora and unbeaten challenger Tyson Fury has found an American television outlet, as Integrated Sports PPV has picked up the fight for a live, 3 p.m. EDT airing. The show will cost $24.95.

This is a surprising move as neither has any name value at all in the States, but it's not a tough fight to market to the right demographic, either. There are many fight fans out there who will gravitate toward just about any heavyweight fight instead of anything else, and both Chisora (14-0, 9 KO) and Fury (14-0, 10 KO) are colorful characters who have so far been able to convince the public that this will be a mean-spirited fight between guys who don't like each other, and that's always easy to sell.

Chisora had been set to fight Wladimir Klitschko twice, but when both fights fell apart, and Klitschko signed to fight David Haye in a July 2 mega-event in Germany, Chisora's status as British heavyweight champ was again priority No. 1, and the BBBofC set up a bid for mandatory challenger Fury, the 6'9", 23-year-old brawler who has bene a pro just about two and a half years at this point. Both fights usually make for a bit more action than most of the big boys do, so it could -- could -- be an entertaining fight.

Undercard bouts have not been named as of yet. My unlikely-to-happen hope is that the undercard will mostly be made up of Frank Warren fighters, even though the purse bid was won by Hennessy Sports.

How do you figure the cuban Perez to figure into things domestically at heavyweight?

Perez is at European level at the moment imo. He has his mandatory points win over Zack Page, which every aspiring prospect at HW needs to have, and he looked good winning Prizefighter, though it was a less than stellar lineup, I mean he beat a guy as known for his kickboxing as he is for his boxing in the semi final.
He'll never be able to compete for the British or commonwealth title, so he realistically won't come up against Chisora or Fury anytime soon, but realistically they could cross paths as Chisora/Fury and Perez look to establish themselves on the World scene.
As is stands I have Perez above them both at the moment, I think he'd test both Fury's and Chisora chins, and if he didn't KO them, he'd beat them on points. Perez needs to step up his competiton level now though, and I'd like to see him against someone like Boytsov (when he fights again), as we seem to have a load of undefeated HWs doing the rounds at the moment, and they need to start fighting.

Fury v Chisora on channel 5 in the UK, free to air. If marketed well this could get good figures.

This could get great figures on free tv in the UK and the US ... but instead they'll fuck it up with PPV as usual. You're not that interesting Fury. Who the hell wants to pay for a fighter who hasn't achieved anything? What the hell makes them think a domestic brittish fight is going to sell well in the states?

Fury loses by self-knockout (uppercut).

Chisora is refusing to attend any of the promotions for the fight this week, after Tyson threatened to kill him in a conference call at the weekend.

Well with days to go, what's everyone's predictions?

I think this could be a quality fight, and I genuinely think it's a pick 'em. My pick is Tyson Fury by stoppage in the late middle rounds.

Fury by late stoppage or a decision which he pulls away with in the last few rounds.

It'll be competitive early but Chisora has never has his heart or stamina tested in the way Fury has (and will have been out of the ring for around 10 months come fight night). That said it's a competitive fight and I certainly wouldn't be surprised if Chisora managed to chew Fury up and spit him out.

I like Tyson Fury to win this fight but can also see Chisora winning a decision. I think Chisora will find it very hard to TKO Fury here as i believe he lacks power, alot of his TKO's have actually been where the ref has stepped in to stop the fight. Fury by late TKO.

Dereck Chisora's lost it, he's scared to death - Tyson Fury | Boxing News | ESPN.co.uk

Highlights include:

Relations between the pair have become so strained that the British Boxing Board of Control has refused to sanction the traditional face-off before the bout due to security concerns.

"This fight is already won and lost," he said. "He's already lost it mentally. He's mentally scared of me, physically scared of me and it will show on the night - just like Michael Spinks was of Mike Tyson [Tyson beat Spinks in just over a minute]. He's already lost his bottle.

"Weights from England: Dereck Chisora 261 pounds, Tyson Fury 255 1/2 pounds. #boxing"

Dan Rafael tweet.

At 261 pounds Del Boy's gonna have the movement of an overweight lady shuffling into bingo.

I was shocked to see him weigh in more than Fury...now I'm debating if this is worth ordering...is the undercard any good? I'd like to see both prospective Wlad opponents in this fight, but not if one is out of shape...does he usually come in this heavy? Or is this a misguided I need to add weight to fight a taller opponent?

Chisora's at his best at around 244lbs... this will be the highest weight of his career. I can't see a tactical reason for this, more likely a simple consequence of spending so long out of the ring and a haphazard view regarding training.

Both of the main undercard bouts are good matches but unlikely to be highlight reel fights... a lot of boxers with some skill and class but limited power and not particularly fan friendly styles.
