Bit of a lighthearted thread I'm sure will get extremely heated, but what are some arguments you hear from both sides of the aisle that should be mutually inclusive, yet are used for some issues yet against others from each sides' perspective?

Against both left and right-
Abortion should be illegal, but making guns illegal means anyone who wants one will still be able to get one
We should make at least certain types of guns illegal to get them off the streets, but you can't make abortions illegal as women will still have them just unsafely now
Drug laws also falls into this. To be logically sound, one would have to support either all illegal or none illegal if the "people will still do it" argument exists in their reasoning to support any them's legalities

Against left-
We need a living minimum wage, under $15 an hour is inhumane
We need illegal alien workers to provide cheap labor (Do you mean to create a servitude underclass?)

Girls can do anything a boy can do, and don't you let anyone tell you otherwise!
A girl showing masculine tendencies should consider taking puberty blockers so they don't get breasts and hips and can enjoy living as a boy since they like boy things

Against right-
We can't bring in refugees, what if one's a terrorist? If you had a bowl of skittles and one in there was poisoned, you wouldn't grab a handful would you?
There shouldn't be strict checks on who we can buy a gun in the US, vast majority of us are just fine law abiding citizens

Sharia law is a dire threat to the United States and coming if we don't stop it now!
District after district in the bible belt passes laws in accordance/benefiting the Christian faith...

Against both-
How debt increasing becomes an issue/non issue depending on which side is passing the budget. So frustrating

Don't want to bite a troll thread, but does anyone on the left actually say that we need alien workers to provide cheap labor or that men aren't naturally better athletes than women? WTF?

I see a lot of "I can't believe people say..." statements on here that seem to be completed with things that people do not actually say.

Maybe the most common is when people say Democrats want open borders.

I would say yes on the first but the other is obviously a retarded fringe view. We pretty much have accepted that immigrant labor are the ones who will work in agriculture at the rate it pays right now

Against the right... Keep gubment out of our lives, unless 2 people of the same gender want to go into a bedroom.

Against religion... Basically everything

Hey rip,

that was actually funny!! Nice one

Naw, Rip never really posted memes and all his shtick involved doing his damndest to seem the courteous one even if it didn't make much sense and deliberately missed sarcasm

I actually felt it was authentic from Rip and not a troll job

I feel like it's him but he knows he has to change it up a little. I also agree that it was not a troll job

Left:
My favorite is I think the government could solve alot of our problems, but I don't trust police, alphabet agencies, or the military.

Or

Right:
The government can't do anything right, except for police, alphabet agencies(until trump atleast), or the military.

I think the example that OP was trying to provide with immigration was:
- We need immigrants to bolster economy and perform jobs.
- We need a standardized living wage to deal with automation.

Do you even branch of government? The people you're strawmanning on the left have problems with how the executive executes the laws they feel we need.

And all "both sides" discussions:

There isn't a set number of jobs. Immigration does bolster the economy, but not because we have a shortage of workers. Talk about UBI to deal with automation is also generally focused on the distant future. Low productivity growth is a current problem.

From the right, force poor women to give birth, but don't give them a dime of govt. assistance.

Nobody actually knows what Democrats want because they say shit they dont actually mean

Republicans on the other hand, say what they mean, the problem is what they want is fucking retarded

Discrimination is bad but affirmative action policies are good.
