half kit wankers are worse

It took me a long time to figure out what word was edited in the title. This is actually a pretty funny observation and I see it happen a lot in America with basketball jerseys.

Ok so for the British, Irish and some other Europeans the phenomenon of the full kit wanker won't need explaining, but for the rest of you, I'll explain.

A full kit wanker is a grown up who thinks it's socially acceptable or even funny/amusing to wear a full kit (usually soccer) in public when not participating in the sport, whereas everyone else thinks it just makes them look a ****. We're not talking just a shirt/jersey but also the shorts and socks, some even take it to such extreme levels to wear shin pads and a captains arm band.

Here's some examples....

Here's an example of Piers Morgan, a man who is a wanker in general, becoming a full kit wanker himself http://www.101greatgoals.com/blog/oh-dear-arsenal-fan-piers-morgan-goes-full-kit-wanker-on-clare-balding-show/

In fact spotting a full kit wanker, photographing them and mocking them has become a sort of past time on twitter. So here's the challenge....who can spot the first UFC full kit wanker? If the fight shorts are able to be purchased or are soon, then it's only a matter of time before some neckbeard turns up at an event wearing both the fight top and fight shorts together, right?

sir i just want to say that this is an excellent post from a cultural exchange point of view and the picture selection is great as well. ive seen the full kit wanker effect in action but didnt know there was a term for it, very satisfying thread all round

There's a guy at Swindon games who turns up with half Swindon Town half Hartlepool United but he only wears the shirt. This guy is both half and half and full kit. Wow, what a prick.

Would be a bit difficult to go the whole hog on American football or even baseball, but I bet some you get the odd tool walking around wearing both jersey and shorts of basketball or something. It doesn't happen often, which is why spotting a full kit wanker and getting the photo is a bit of a challenge.

Yeh, I've actually seen that, now that you mention it.

I think the equivalent word in American English to wanker would be a jerkoff, but it's a couple of steps up on the curse-metre.

At least basketball jerseys are a part of American urban fashion. Football kits have no place anywhere outside a football stadium or park.

I tweeted out that the UFC has its own FKW branch now to Coach Kavanagh on launch day & he replied calling me a miserable negative kernt lol

LOL at the last one!

Here in Brazil you'll see guys in full kit only when they're going to play soccer or are returning home and maybe stopped for a beer or so. Besides that only small kids wear full kit to go watch games at the stadium.

Are just the tops not part of British urban fashion? I genuinely don't know.

If I'm playing 5/6a side with my friends, I tend to purposely try to wear nonmatching shorts so I don't get mistaken for a full kit wanker on my journey.

Usually they wear a SS football top with a regular LS shirt underneath, but even then only on match days.
