Aspinal doesn't need to beat the former interim champ. He is the interim champ. There's no discussion here. Gane got dominated by Jones, a win vs Spivak doesn't put him in the title picture when there's an Aspinal as the #1 contender.
 
If Dana has any common sense at all, he should 100% get behind this rumour and confirm it.

They can't do that without letting him go. So either Tom takes the fight or nothing, till Jones contract expires. Dont think UFC is willing to release him

Nah, pretty sure they can strip him without cutting him from the roster. Conor was stripped of his 145 title when it became clear he would never defend it.

The only thing is, as soon as Dana tells Jon he's getting stripped, Jones will just announce it was his choice to vacate and that he's retiring.

Makes no sense for Aspinal to accept any fight until he knows what's happening with Jones, loses all leverage and gives credibility to whatever Jones does next as legit instead of looking like he's ducking.

Best to just wait it out if I'm his manager.

If Jones mops Aspinal, he mops Aspinal. Tom won the Interim in 2023, we are in 2025. Sure, we had to wait for the gimmick fight of Jones vs Stipe, from which Jones didn't even get a slap, so... He is in good shape body wise, maybe not head, dude was speaking about wiping someone at 2AM just a couple of days ago.

The UFC can 100% strip Jon without releasing him from his contract. The UFC owns Jon for the rest of his fighing career whether he likes it or not. Dana and the UFC doesn't even need an excuse to take the title from him. They don't even have to pay him more unless they want to.

It's a fucking piece of tin that he doesn't want to defend until everything's stacked in his favor, and on his own schedule. Jon's made that painfully clear, and his own words can easily be used to substantiate stripping him.

It's the UFC, not the JonFC for crying out loud.
 
I mean if Jones isnt gonna fight Tom they have to move on and Tom/Gane is the fight that makes sense. I know nobody really wants to see Gane in another title fight but he's coming off a win, questionable or not and he's still a name and Tom hasnt fought him. Plus add in French aspect and the region, it makes all the sense.

But this needs to be a real title fight, not letting Jones hang on to the belt and making Tom defend interim. Its time for Jones/UFC to make a fucking dec and stick with it.
 
UFC just waiting to see if Poatan beats Ankalaev so they can make Jones drop the HW belt and fight LHW again.

And finally move the HW division foward.
