I’ve got to agree here.
We’ve seen this story too many times, undefeated rising contender, get’s injured, out for a year, comes back and never looks the same.

I’m on the Mongolian war party too so I’m not liking the outlook.

This is true, but I see him getting flatlined by a solid mid-tier actual FW at some point in 2026, possibly after the UFC spoon feeds him some jobbers to add to his HL reel and get people talking again, regardless of whether he's actually addressed his shortcomings that lead to the previous defeat (and he probably won't). Time will tell if that was his true fraud check or if Ewing is just that good, but I foresee at least one nasty defeat for Malcolm in the new year that truly shows us his ceiling in the division with no asterisks. There are patterns at work in MMA and this is a very common one. Of course, that might have just been a really bad night for Malcolm and he'll rebound with a vengeance and become champion by 2027 (he won't).

No joke, Ewing looked like a freakin' toddler in there against Wellmaker, which makes his performance even more surprising. You would swear they were two or three weight classes apart!
