No, Lawler isn't the ass hole. He's wrong, I think he knew what he was doing, but it's a fight, there's adrenaline, and emotion (bad blood too in this case). I understand what he did, and mistakes happen. I personsally think in a situation like this, a fighter should be fined.. but it doesn't make him an ass hole.

You're the asshole. You have the benefit of watching it years later on the internet as many times as you want, condone it, and enjoy it. An ass hole with an opinion on a situation that he's never been in. If lightning struck, and you decided to leave your mothers basement and try to compete with the other super heavyweights at the local gym.. and someone knocked you out in sparring, would you want them to bash you while you were senseless until someone comes in to save you? You agreed to be there and spar, you knew the risks, but should you really face unnecessary trauma that could affect you the rest of your life? You're the asshole, dumb ass.

Says the internet tough guy that never competed in anything. Sure the kiss thing is awful and would piss me off... but it's common sense knocking the person unconscious is enough, and within the rules, and ethical within the sport.

I wouldn't doubt you've kissed several men on the mouth, while your mother was at work, and you had your alone time in the basement. I also wouldn't doubt shortly after the kiss, that the same man gave what was cuming to you.

Uh that's not how it goes, the gun thing goes never point a gun at someone unless you are 100% sure you are going to shoot them. Not the other way around lol.
 
I only looked at a few scattered replies and can see some people ganging up on Robbie. I am not going to defend what Robbie did since I did not see the fight. However.....

This occurred in 2007. The mentality around fighting was completely different then. Studies regarding head trauma in football (USA version) started going full steam in 2008.

We are only seeing a 5 second animation of the fight. This fight lasted into the forth round. I am not going to read all of the replies under this thread, but I would need to know what damage Trigg did to Lawler (if any) earlier in the fight.

We also need to know if Trigg did anything dirty to any friends of Lawler in earlier fights. I am not advocating payback, but sometimes it is harder to feel sorry for some fighters when they get the extra punch after they have been doing the extra punch on their own finishes.

You think that the studies in 2008 with football are what turned this around? This entire post made me laugh.. because you actually put time into it and you're serious. You don't think prior to 2008, people didn't know getting knocked unconscious, let alone knocked unconscious then take more power blows to the head would cause head trauma?

And your second point is, maybe it's not so bad, we'll have to judge what trigg possibly did to lawlers friends in previous fights?

Your third point being, we would have to see what damage trigg did to lawler earlier in the fighter? Why would that matter?

Trigg had 3 fights in 4 months with Robbie being fight #3. The fight went 4 rounds with Trigg winning 2/3 so far. Both were pretty gassed out and Lawler finally finished the fight.

Trigg did tell Couture that he didn't think he could make it all 5 rounds who was his corner man sometime in the 3rd. Frank believes he might have died if the fight went to the 5th round.

Trigg kissed Lawler at the weigh ins to start shit with Robbie so Robbie took an extra shot because of it. Simple as that.

That last punch was a direct result of the incredible amount of shit Trigg talked, and his actions leading up to the fight. He was disgracefully disrespectful and actively tried to get under Robbie's skin.... He succeeded, Robbie took it personally, was pissed, and Trigg paid a price for his antics.

Also, lets not forget that lawler was a much younger man in this fight. the man fighting now has learned alot since then and is not the same person he was. Now he is much more respectful and much less of a hot head.

And literally none of these points matter, besides Trigg's health. Simple solution, fine or fire the guys that take late shots or hold onto subs too long.

Disagree with the first paragraph, I don't think anything prior to the fight matters. You can't justify doing that to another human being, if you're sane.

Agree with the second paragraph, I don't think Lawler would do the same thing today.
 
also the punch that did the most damage was the right as he was falling but before he hit the ground....already out cold from the left imo.

IMO, 5-rounders should only be for when it's absolutely necessary, like for title fights, as it used to be. Although for some people the rest won't do them that much good because they have the APOE4 gene allele that causes more damage as opposed to alleviating it. Those people should at least be screened of it before they know the risks before entering the sport or continuing it.

Having the ApoE4 gene variant confers increased Alzheimer's risk mainly in women, actually.
