Throwback Frank Mir vs. Tank Abbott

Frank Mir will forever be one of the greatest submission heavyweights of all time for me. I truly believed he could have been an all time top 5 fighter in the heavyweight division had he not gotten injured.

More than that, he showed up and fought.

Mir was a legit beast, always wondered what might've been had the accident not happened.

even with it, he had a hell of a career, for a guy that size he could move unbelievably well.

His greatest sub was definitely Big Nog.

He was a wizard on the ground, all while being 250-260lbs.

Broke my heart when he snapped Nogs arm.
Likewise. I didn't really start to appreciate frank until 5-6 years ago. Thought he was too arrogant and had too many horseshoes up his ass. He pretty sick though regardless of the Nog win.

Yeah he was a damn good fighter, I liked his arrogant attitude lol.

He has been overlooked for too many years tbh.

Almost as bad as Tito.
Hey now. Tito always tells me, what I see, let's go ahead and see it by the fight, what I see, in the ring.

That's a service Tito guarantees.

Impressive as always

Underrated due to that accident tbh.
He was a phenom on the ground as a big guy.
Fast, explosive BJJ practitioner, with size and strength.
Dangerous combination for sure.
I agree. I think people also crap on Mir because of the devastating losses he has (Carwin, Brock2, etc) - but that live-or-die / one-round-extravaganza attitude is what made him a must-watch fighter.

It also has to do with the world going soft and not appreciating what we all fell in love with when we started watching.

Frank was a warrior...nobody can take that from him sir.

Yes, he was a do-or-die type of fighter. He upset a lot of people with his sh;t-talking (specifically w/Brock) and his double demolition of Nog, but he came to bang bro.

Had he not fallen on love with brawing and worked more on defensive wrestling (especially in the clinch against the fence), he could have prolonged his time at the top, but alas, can't have it all.
