Frank Mir Signs With Bellator

I am surprised they let him go. he was with UFC since before lots of posters here were even born.

I'd watch a Mir vs Fedor fight, they both seem to be at that downward trail end part of their respected careers.

that same kind of 'trail' is what Nog and Couture were on and they produced one hell of a fight.

Mir has been losing to elite fighters, Fedor is getting knocked out by the likes of Maldonado and Mitrione. It would be a murder.

I'd rather see Fedor retire and Mir fight Mitrione.

Fedor probably hoping for flabby Mir, not muscled Mir. If Mir practices takedowns, he'll probably submit Fedor.

Keep in mind that "trail" was immediately after both guys had lost the title, not after getting wrecked by journeymen.

Friggin' love Frank, great fights upcoming. I do hope he comes back to UFC as an announcer when he's done fighting. I've missed his mic skills since WEC got snatched up.

Another familiar face is headed to Bellator.

Frank Mir has agreed to terms with the promotion, MMA Fighting has learned. Bellator is expected to officially announce his signing in the coming days.

Last month, Mir, 38, was granted his release from the UFC.

Following his March 2016 loss to Mark Hunt in Australia, Mir tested positive for oral turinabol metabolites in a United States Anti-Doping Agency drug test. As a result, Mir, who maintains his innocence, is serving a two-year suspension that expires in April 2018. He is not expected to fight for Bellator before then.

Mir, the former UFC heavyweight champion, had been with the company since 2001. The last time he fought for another organization was 16 years ago.

Considered one of the greatest big men of all time, Mir (18-11) holds notable wins over Brock Lesnar, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira (twice), Roy Nelson and Mirko Cro Cop.

Mir will become the latest familiar UFC face to sign with Bellator, joining the likes of Phil Davis, Matt Mitrione, Benson Henderson, Rory MacDonald, and most recently Gegard Mousasi, among others, who recently made the jump.

While im happy were seeing the slow demise of the UFC (due to their arrogance)...we need to get more young blood in Bellator.

Big Nog had been TKO'd by Mir my man. No offense, but, Mir never was a KO artist. And Big Nog had been in there with the best of em already and taken clean shots from plenty of heavy hitters (Fedor, CC, Sergei etc)

If you couldn't tell they were on a downward path, you're blind.

Mir's chin is fragile very FRAGILE like fine china...I think even a Bellator HW can KO him. I wish he would have stayed in the UFC..his story is epic...2 time champion...recovered from motorcycle accident.. first man to finish Nog by KO and by sub...finished Brock...finished Crocop....he would have served as the perfect ambassador for the UFC

Personally I wish he would go back to calling fights. He was spectacular as a color-commentator with WEC.
