Have a good retirement Frank and thanks for all the good fights. Hespect. You did OK in MMA.

Loved to hear him go on and on about how fuckin smart he was

Also very wide head

Pre motorbike accident Mir was a beast for that period of time when he was fighting. He's grappling & ground game was awesome for the time. He had a mediocre stand up game was not a sharp crisp puncher or throwing kicks etc.

I have the VHS tape @ DVD version of UFC 48 from the June 2004 card when he became the UFC Heavyweight Champion by breaking Tim Sylvia’s arm @ 50seconds in the 1st Round and winning the fight by referee’s stoppage.

He unfortunatly was never the same after the accident he's return fight July 2006 against Dan Christison @ UFC 61 was horrible to watch even though Mir won via decision he clearly wasn't the same after returning after recovering from the fatal accident that came close to killing him.

In September 2004, Mir was involved in a serious motorcycle accident. The specifics of the accident are that an elderly driver ran a stop sign and rammed into the side of Frank Mir’s motorcycle, with the impact of the collision striking Mir’s leg. The force of the collision threw Mir a great distance in the air, to the point that he is very lucky to have not been killed in the accident. Mir escaped the accident with his life, but he suffered numerous injuries, the most serious of which was a badly broken leg.

Fedor Mir was an awesome fight amounst legends who always go for the kill win or lose. Hespect to the legends

He smashed his leg in that horrible motorcycle accident and still went on to compete which is pretty wild to think about.
Yep. I would say that maybe he could've been GOAT-ish without the accident, but he got pounded out on the ground by Ian McCall before it happened. He had some clear weaknesses, but also a lot of strengths and was a UFC champ. Since he beat Tim Sylvia once, it would've been interesting to see what would've happened had there been no accident. Would he have beaten Sylvia again and taken his belt? Or would Tim wise up (as he did after the first Arlovski loss) and beat Mir in a rematch if they fought again a couple of years later?

Always had the funniest reactions to being rocked, looked like a bobblehead or someone trying to act like they were rocked.

I thought he was meant to have one more fight? With his daughter fighting on the same card.

Very good fighter. Never liked his smug attitude. He’s earned his retirement

I always found him a bit abrasive in interviews but from everything I’ve heard he’s very nice in person. Personally I was a huge Nog fan so I struggled with the tuf season where it was mir vs nog and mir kept bullying people. He got way more involved with house drama than he really needed to. But he had an awesome career, he’s a lot of fun to watch fight and he played antagonist to a lot of my favorites so he’ll always have a niche little place in my heart.
