While UFC could use Francis to fight Tom they would loathe to pay much considering risk if Francis wins and leaves. Plus the messaging to other fighters about messing with UFC. I don't know about, I think if there is anytime for Francis to come back and have both sides get a deal where they benefit, it's now. The main sticking point the last contract negotiation was the option to box and him being an independent contractor. While that won't change, I don't that is something Francis would need at this point in his career anyways. He's already done the boxing thing twice and I don't think there is much of a future there anyways. And he's done PFL while boxing, so he's had his independence and made some good money. I also think he's run out of options, I dont think the boxing is there for him now and I don't think PFL is doing much to offer him another fight at his pay scale. It's very clear the last time they lost money and it wasn't worth it.

I think Francis is at a point in his career where he would be comfortable doing a 3 fight deal with the UFC and riding out the rest of his career. You can almost guarantee that his come back fight would be a title fight. I don't really see any downside to him coming back.

I think Francis is at a point in his career where he would be comfortable doing a 3 fight deal with the UFC and riding out the rest of his career. You can almost guarantee that his come back fight would be a title fight. I don't really see any downside to him coming back.

The downside is for the HW division if he gets the belt and doesn't want to have more fights after that.
Sure the UFC would strip him much sooner than they did (not) with Jones, but that adds even more congestion for the other HWs.
