the fact that the UFC let their heavyweight champion leave, when he is a vicious knockout artist, is fucking embarrassing.

ngannou has a career finishing rate of 94%. he's won one fight by decision, everything else was either a KO or a submission. he was only ever beaten by decision.

the dude is likable as hell outside the ring, and an absolute monster inside it. they should've paid him so much money he wouldn't even know what to do with it. he's the promotion's dream fighter, and they fucked it up.

But in one those of decisions he was absolutely dominated and another was one of the worst fights of all-time. It’s not like he has this aura of invincibility around him.

...and some food for thought:

MMA fans are so dumb and brain washed by Dana. You do realise the UFC is responsible for the non stop negative press regarding his negotiations? All because he turned them down.

Ita just unbelievable how dumb most of the world is

He turned down a hell of a lot more than that. He's not even fighting at all. Makin $0.00

Now the problem is how will PFL promote Francis without his fight library

Can PFL legally use the title "former UFC champion" in their promos?

They're not claiming the "UFC" brand for themselves. They would simply be mentioning a historical fact.

If you could please link that, I believe it was well established that 8 mill was for the Jones fight
Also ofcourse if he loses, his value goes down
Specially if he lost like Gane
It's not only that. His pay would have been based on PPV points. The Jones fight would have been a career high point, and his next fights would have been less payment.

Probably? I feel like smaller promotions hype up their fighters as "UFC veterans" if they had a few UFC fights so not sure how this would be any different.

Francis never came across as the brightest person out there....

What are you smoking?

This gif in particular leaves a sour taste for a lot

I’ve never seen a more pure indication of how fucked the average sherdogger is. Ngannou was a phenom there’s zero reason to hate on the guy. I mean sure you can point out bad decision making, but people here are literally rejoicing in his struggles, and for what? Because they loath anyone who doesn’t fall in line like a good grunt, like them.
i don’t hate fred. sure, he’s a one-dimensional power puncher who kept the division on ice for a year while he negotiated in bad faith. sure, his fighting ability is massively overrated, just like his personality. and yeah, he’s a diva with an overinflated sense of self importance. but hey, at least he’s not a sand miner anymore—i hate sand miners. i’m sure he’ll do just fine in shark fights, or wherever he went.

Yes I will tune in. Where can I watch PFL?

No and this is a weird opinion a lot of people seem to have on here. Just being the champ doesn't inherently make someone a massive draw.

Jake Paul va Nate Diaz will bring eyeballs to the PFL. Ngannou will bring credibility and curious viewers. People will watch just to see how Francis will do. The PFL can then claim they have the baddest man on the planet in front of a huge audience.

For the people saying Francis isn’t a draw, how many PPVs did Mike Perry and Rockhold bring to the UFC? What about Chad Mendes or Eddie Alverez? Ben Rothwell? And yet the BKFC was much more hyped than the UFC this last weekend.

I don't want to derail the thread but why am I reading this phrase non-stop lately ? I'm not talking about the "fumble" part which has been used, even untranslated, in French, for decades in TRPGs (interchangeably with critical miss) and was thus one of the first English words my young self learnt, but only very lately saw the addiction of the bag. What am I missing ?
The bag is the money in slang terms. So he fucked up the big money deal is all they're saying.
