I go to the Smith VS Teixeira card.
I see a name I dont recognize so I click on it.


Alexander Romanov is the name. It says his foundation style is Sumo.

Is this first time for this in the UFC?

He is set to face Raphael Pessoa.

Alot of people don’t realise that Sumo originally was closer to Greek pankration. With kicks, knees, and joint manipulation etc.

It has a very rich and long history. Even it’s modern iteration has some useful application in MMA.

Sumo is also really fun to watch and the events are amazing to attend.

People think only giant fatties do sumo. But that is not remotely true.

Sumo wrestlers are also extremely Explosive. Albeit in short bursts.
