Makes his debut against fucking Dan Severn at age 22.

Saves the UFC with the Bonnar fight

Submits prime Shogun and beats Rampage to win the title in one of the most tactical performances ever by a LHW.

Put everything on the line and fought prime Anderson when everyone was terrified of him. Takes balls

5 wins against 3 former UFC champs. Pure grit and determination, wasn't born as some super athlete, all hard work. Some of the best cardio in LHW history, underrated ground game, and just one of the most likable guys in MMA. Shame his injuries led to his retirement. I am glad the UFC gave him a job.

Forrest is most underrated by Anderson Silva haters as a way to discredit Silva’s impressive win.

Forrest submitted Shogun, beat prime Rampage to become LHW champ, and was up 2-0 vs prime Rashad before getting caught.

War Forrest!

Agreed, and it wasn’t until now that I realized how much his name sounds like a Harry Potter character or some fantasy creature.

He became surprisingly good. Better than I had anticipated.

At first he looked a little awkward and green. He progressed very fast, and you could literally see his improvements in every match.

The wins over Shogun and Rampage pretty much speak for themselves. These guys were at the top of their game at that time.

No.

About 95% of Forrest's career consisted in gatekeeping. He was never among the best in the division except for a very brief period of time. He was basicly only relevant in 3 fights: against Shogun, who was making his UFC debut and fought injured, against Rampage (very close fight) and against Rashad, who destroyed him.

Then he got destroyed by Anderson Silva (expected) and was never close to being a contender again. Fought Tito for the umpteenth time, got destroyed by Shogun in the rematch, beat an old Franklin and then reitred.

If anything Forrest is overrated around here because people pretend he was an elite fighter. He wasn't. He was a mid tier fighter who managed to get a couple of good wins. Elite fighters are time proven and for the large majority of his career, Forrest wasn't one of the best, nor even close to it.

He's basicly a one hit wonder.

he is probably one of the more overrated fighters ever.

He's a true underrated legend and a great guy. But he did lose to Tito in that 3rd fight. I was there and he knew it. Just saying

I think he's rated just about right. A guy who overachieved by hard work and heart, won some great fights, became champ, but was never truly one of the greats.

I consider myself a fan of his.

He was a mediocre journeyman for most of his career that caught lightning in a bottle in 07/08 with Shogun rushing all his knee injuries. And the Rampage fight could've gone either way

Forrest is a lot like Bisping who caught lightning in a bottle in 2016 but for the vast majority of his career was a mediocre journeyman.

Both got Upset of the Year contenders against far superior fighters (Shogun/Luke) who murked them in the other fight they had which is more indicative of the difference b/w them

He's the most overrated. And fyi rampage threw the title fight so he could go to Hollywood. Watch the post fight, he didn't even care about the loss, every time Forrest threw anything rampage looked like he could've ended him. UFC got their Cinderella story and rampage went to Hollywood. Win/win. If ppl don't think this is possible, all I've gotta say is keep drinking the koolaid. UFC is just as corrupt as boxing deal with it

Isn't Severn a pro wrassler... he probably took it easy on Forrest.

I love Forrest man but even he will tell you his skills were fairly limited.

Lol

Forrest is a cool guy just not a very good fighter. He beat Shogun when he was injured and got his shit pushed in severely in the rematch. I also don't believe he did enough to beat Rampage. What Rashad, Anderson and Jardine did to him far surpasses anything he ever achieved in the Octagon when I think of his career.

No, Shogun was not at the top of his game. He fought injured (had ACL surgery after the fight) and gassed inside 2 rounds (Shogun was known for having great cardio).

When Shogun was in better shape this happened:
