Former UFC LWH Steve Bossé to make boxing debut feb 15th

gtfo. I love Bosse but I had no idea he'd stopped UFCing.
Dude is a stud.

When will the UFC learn that they should be really trying to poach hockey players more so than some of these sports

I know, it's kinda sad.

Can U imagine Bossé Vs Saki ?!?
I love Bossé, he used to spar at my gym sometimes but Saki would make him look like an amateur. Probably his worst matchup.

Would be great tv though

Sad he left MMA but I'll try to follow his boxing venture.

Very fun fighter!

can someone explain why he is going into boxing he is coming off two big wins in UFC, and its super hard to even get a title shot and at 36?

He would need at least 20 fights, unless he has a good connection and signs with a huge promoter in his area that can rush him to contender status and even then he will probably only get 20k to 50k and no bonus.

He's paid more in boxing

(yes really)

Bossé is a huge name here in Quebec due to his Hockey enforcer career.

He can sell out arenas.

GYM, the promoter that sign him, is the biggest Boxing promoter in canada.

He's the promoter of 175lbs Champ Adonis Stevenson, just to name him

This

Plus Bossé fit better in boxing imho. Not that he was bad in MMA he was solid and entertaining but he's more of a pure puncher. In boxing he can do what he does best and that's throw punches while not having to worry about getting takedown. He can now focus exclusively on improving his boxing and his punching technique.

Looking forward to watch his boxing debut.

Curious how much he'll get paid. Certainly better than what the UFC paid him.

He likely didn't enjoy getting kicked in the head by Santos. He's also probably not a wizard on the mat. If he feels his strength is boxing, and wants to give it a shot, why not? its probably always been a dream of his since he grew up in the era where it was the #1 combat sport.

anyone know why he decided to try mma in the first place then?

well there you go like I said only way I could see him doing this now is if he has the connections, so it makes sense.

he is under the top dog boxing promoter in the area and can be a local draw fighting cans, so now it makes sense.

Wasnt he a boxer before mma, I mean they were saying his training was mostly boxing he wasnt pro of course but what he studied was boxing while he played hockey

Because MMA you can make money quickly and dont need an extensive amateur background like in boxing.

Now that he has a name he is using that to make money in boxing, if he were a no name at 36 he wouldnt get too far or make anything in boxing.

He began to show interest after meeting a few TKO execs who were in recruitment mode. Signed with TKO , was successful and then was signed by the UFC. The rest is hostory

The guy is a natural born fighter and he,s good at it. It's his life , whether in hockey , MMA or boxing.

He fought on some hockey enforcers vs enforcers boxing cards yes but he wasn't a boxer full time. He trained boxing mostly to fight better on the ice.

The North American Hockey league here in Quebec is probably the toughest league in the world. It has toned down quite a bit in the last few years but when it started it was a fightning league first , a hockey league second. Most teams employed 4-5 enforcers or more and most game ended up in bench clearing brawls. There was a lot of tough son of a bitch fighting in the league and Bossé was considered among if not the best enforcer.

Fuck. A couple more wins in the UFC and he could have gotten a title shot. Bad move IMO.
