Former UFC fighter Nam Phan’s speech

Strange how it can impact some people and not others.

Chris Leben is known for being in slug fests and absolute wars, is still competing now for bare knuckle fc yet his speech seems pretty much unaffected. But I’d say he has taken more damage fighting than Nam Phan.

Must be the sparring.

Overeem has been KO'd 17 times, and he's still well spoken.

I don’t know if anyone follows him on social media but he uploaded a video a couple days ago and he’s struggling to string sentences together..

especially towards the end when he’s driving his car, I don’t remember him having that many brutal wars but he sounds punch drunk?

If this is really his normal speaking, meaning he isn't screwing around, wow.

watch his gym fights on youtube, has more to do with that than wars he's been in professionally

Only 37 as well man he’s definitely had a tough old road in MMA

It's sad to see, really tough to understand him at points. His written English seems fine though so seems like his thoughts are lucid but he just struggles to enunciate clearly.

Right? Could be heroin, remember Josh Samman?

Yeah, that was really sad. What a waste of life/talent.

On a semi related note I remember in the TUF house Kelvin Gastelum saying "I want to fight Josh Samman next... Because I'm an expert fisherman" and thinking "weird dude"

Those Garcia wars took some years off him it seems, suprised he has 17 losses and only 4 being KO's but that only tells one half of the story I suppose, whenever I saw him fight he seemed to be slugging it out with someone, all of his UFC fights went to a decision it seems.
i'd take a one punch ko over 15 mins of head trauma any day.

He mentioned being interested in accepting a mixed-rules bout in Rizin, so he's still looking to compete somehow. I just hope he retires before he's completely spent, too many guys linger around long after their health is beyond compromised.

Seems like the fighters who are able to take damage get it worse. Overeem has been KO'd left and right but usually it's one big shot and he's out. Seems to be mentally all there. Fighters like Chuck had a really good chin that gave up on him not he cna barely tyalk

if you google nam phan the first two pictures to pop up are steven segal and josh fabia lol

He's known to always be taking on challengers at his gym too.

Between MMA, boxing and gym wars, it's all catching up to him.

Exactly, I think Diego has only been finished once his whole career but hearing him tells a different tale.
