Jon taking this story to a news outlet doesn't help him any.


If he wants to redeem himself then he should start by showing it through his actions, not by having some kind of entitled attitude. Just keep grinding and stay away from drama like this and I'm sure he can overcome it.

When you are acting like a total asshole, the best friend you can have is the one who takes you aside and tells you you are being an asshole and to knock it off.

Anyone who rallies behind you without calling you out first is a yes man and an enabler. That coach was the only person being honest, though hopefully he was saying it to Jon's face, not in the media.

Sounds like Jon took the wrong lesson from it. He says something to the effect of "that's how you know whose really there for you..."

Now I'm not saying that there's not room for that, but it is also the most selfish way to see it. He didn't think "Oh, shit. I've put my friends and colleagues in a position where some of them HAVE to distance themselves from me." He didn't think "Oh shit, some of these people are PROUD to work with me and take part in my success, so when I fuck up beyond belief, their likely to be equally ashamed."

Don't think of this nameless trainer as scum. He's just some dude trying to live his life in the shadow of a giant. He'd prefer to not get squashed by Jon's stupidity.

I also believe that he should work hard to improve him self and he has to prove it. People will remember old deeds in case of small mistake he commit.
