FNF: Barthelemy vs Usmanee, January 4th

115-113 usmanee (sp?)

Atlas overreacted.

No problem with that score. I just have a problem with people acting like someone dominated that fight. Barthelemy won the first 3 clearly, I thought he edged the 4th and there no way anyone can say straight faced that Usmanee swept the rest of the fight.

Robbery = the new MMA vs Boxing.

Atlas reacted like most fans react now...wait!?! my card was wrong? NO! They're WRONG!!!! Personally, I felt Atlas hurt boxing more than he helped Friday but I can't fault him because his passion took over. Sometimes that passion is actually ego.

Can anyone explain why fans have a better view of the fight than judges? does that make any sense?

Exactly what I think.

I was just posting on ESPN, boxing has to have the only fans in sports that make up their own rules based on how the fight goes and actually believe them. "His LEGS ARE WOBBLY! HE"S LOST EVERY ROUND!!!" "THAT WAS THE HARDEST PUNCH! 10-8 WITH NO KNOCKDOWN!!!"

unfortunately, every fight has its own set of rules and those rules fluctuate more than any sport in the world. Adjusting to a ref is almost just as important as adjusting your opponent these days.

i think judges have a reason for their terrible cards. Their view SUCKS! What's the refs excuse? It is my opinion that we have worse refs than judges these days especially in California.

I always compare boxing refs to mlb umpires in that, baseball says the strike zone is considered to be from the chest to the knees, but hardly any umpire actually follows those guidelines.

I suppose you saw Rafael score card about the fight then, where he also said that Barthelemy got a gift decision in his hometown.

We get to see it on tv, with different angles, they have a limited view.

Fat Dan is an ESBer with connections.
He's another chicken little.

Dan should stick to reporting the action. He does that well. Scoring fights... he had Berto beating Ortiz.

3 monitors fixes that....bet you ESPN, Showtime, and HBO would all donate a few to boxing.

seems stupid that they still use this broken ass system.

and Alexander beating Matthysse.

that being said, apparently I had a shitty card for this fight so maybe I shouldn't be talking. I still contend Barth deserved the win though.

My bro just reminded me that the 1st round was easily a 10-8 round for Barth which is most likely how they ended up with 117-112 for Barth

I think every round from round 4 through 11 was a close round that could have gone either way.

Here's Cuban who suck Rigo every moment in Boxscene scored it closed to Ushmanee. That's an indication we have a robbery!

Manny 116-111

I took a point off for the KO.

Boxingscene is worst than Sherdog Heavyweight Forum. There is people over in the Heavies that still won't admit that Condit Beat the Shit Out of Diaz.

Same score I had. Pretty clear Manny was controlling the whole round. I got my score by taking the point away from Marquez for the KO. I don't see why he had to hit manny so hard.

I'm more certain than I ever was that some fans really don't watch the fights that closely past the commentary.

The simple fact is scoring close rounds isn't easy. Sure, when it's a one-sided blowout everyone can tell who's winning but when rounds are close people struggle... and that's without looking at the way people mangle/make up their own judging criteria... and hell, when they're actually pointed out to them, still ignore them.

So you've got a close fight. In all honesty you don't really know who's winning the rounds... but you've got a (supposedly) respected and experienced guy telling you one man is winning. I can see why people defer to his judgement. They're looking for something to base their opinion on.
