Lets do it on NBC

“You know, I can easily put a halt on (Canelo-Khan) if I chose to call Mr. Garcia, (Danny) Garcia’s dad,” Mayweather said of the May 7 HBO PPV middleweight championship fight. “If I chose to call him and say, ‘You know what, sir, you’re a hell of a trainer. Your son’s a hell of a fighter, he’s an undefeated champion, I’m an undefeated champion, and I think it would be great for me and your son both to make a lot of money. And like I said before, you’re very outspoken, my dad is very outspoken.’

“It would be good for me to come back for number 50 and fight the undefeated Danny Garcia, you know, at the MGM Grand. You know, since Danny Garcia is undefeated and he’s very explosive, he’s a very good fighter, and he really represents Puerto Rico the same way that (Felix) Trinidad (did). Even though he’s from Philadelphia, he represents the red, white, and blue for Puerto Rico. I’ll go over to the MGM Grand and say, ‘You know what? We need a venue also,’ and we’ll see (what happens).”

I don't think he was saying he was really going to fight. He was just saying that he could outsell Khan and Canelo if they fought on the same day since it could be said that Khan and Canelo lost to Garcia and Floyd respectively.

Equally terrible fight. No worse matchup for Swift.

But yes, obviously theyd sell more.

Floyd is a narcissist who can't stand not being in the spotlight for Cinco De Mayo weekend.

I actually agree that Garcia would be a pretty easy fight for Floyd and I think most of this forum knows I've always been a pretty big Garcia supporter.

Garcia is too slow for Floyd. Too one dimensional. Floyds not going to sit in the pocket and get in a shootout with Garcia and aside from catching him in an exchange, how does Garcia beat Floyd? He can't. Floyd would win a clear decision. 118-110ish.

I also like Garcia a lot, but I don't think he's in Floyd's league or has the speed to catch him in an exchange.
I would like to see the fight, though.
One night Floyd will get old in one round, so if he's going to take that bout to go to 50-0, he should do it ASAP.
I think 50-0 and adding Garcia to his resume would be big deal. Historically. It's another top-shelf fighter of his era.

All that said, I do think he was probably speaking figuratively. No pun intended.

Personally, I'd much rather watch Canelo vs Khan. I'm curious to see if Canelo went to school for speedy slicksters, and if so, can he stop Khan?

It's a more intriguing fight for me, and it's more relevant to the current boxing landscape.
I don't need another Floyd novelty showcase.

Floyd is right...

Danny Garcia vs PBF would have a lot more appeal than Khan vs Canelo...

I disagree; with Canelo-Khan, we're either going to see a sensational knockout or a sensational upset where Khan outspeeds Canelo all night. Floyd will dance rings around Garcia, potshotting him all night.
