My mum would have been 80 today had she still been with us and she wasn't a drinker but loved Dubonet. It's a shame I don't have any but watching a cooking show in France Dubonet was just mentioned as was a French cookery book I was reading last night so at least the coincidences are in our favour.

My mother in law loved a brandy and Babycham.

Both my grandfathers died before I was born. I heard the one on my dad's side was especially fond of scotch.

Clean potable water with no cholera, because that was hard to find 1000 years ago for my ancestors

I come from German and Irish stock so beer and whiskey. My Grandfather used to get wine for special occasions but him only going in to town once a month meant he wasn't really a connoisseur when it came to the fermentaion of grapes so it would be either mad dog 20/20 or Mogen David.

My grandpa on my father’s side was an alcoholic and would put down caguamas daily.

My grandpa in my mother’s side was also an alcoholic but he was rich so he would drink all sorts of liquor, he died before I was born so not sure what kind, I would guess he put down whisky often.
There were these ceramic flasks he left behind at my grandmas house that said “cognac” and “vermouth” and I would read that and be like wtf is that.

My mom stopped drinking before I was born but she told me she liked hurricanes when she was young.

I don’t know what my dad liked to drink, probably wasn’t a cocktail guy.

Was she from New Orleans?

My dad being a succesful company guy used to drink average/cheap wine and whisky.

Whenever he would travel though, he'd free shop some black/blue label JW and it amazed me how fast that bottle be empty.

My grandpa drank a high ball of tequila straight we are alcoholics in my family. My 5'5" father(manlet) could easily finish a 12 pk of bud heavy in his day to day life predictably this caused serious health problems had he had to quit drinking at age 36 after a hemmorage. I drank bud heavy and tequila before bud light became tranny fluid.

Sorry. I've only ever had a Hurricane in New Orleans. Went on one of the walking tours and one of the guests was so fucked up bringing a Hurricane she got kicked off the tour for safety.

That’s interesting to know they’re a typical New Orleans drink, I don’t think I’ve seen them around anywhere in my life.

But I’m not a cocktail guy either so I’m not paying lots of attention to the prepared liquor menu, I’m partial to straight whisky or vodka just blunt and simple flavor, I guess a martini is nice but I don’t need much bells and whistles, craft beer is where I get my complex flavors in, sours, hoppy heavies, love stouts.

I miss the craft beer lifestyle. Met heaps of friends in VA and CA because of good beer.
