Knowing Floyd, he probably wants to fight Paige VanZant.
Lmao qft. MMA hardcores don't understand how much of a "control every variable" type of guy Floyd Mayweather is. He's has that safe zoning GSP quality x a billion.
Floyd makes 60 cents on every dollar on his own. Why would he copromote with the UFC?
Conor McGregor is the only reason.
If Floyd ever did fight in the UFC it would actually either prove or disprove and interesting theory. That theory is, can someone expedite the acquisition of combat skills if financial resources are essentially unlimited?
Now Mayweather's athleticism and massive success in boxing changes the starting point, but it is still thought provoking. How advanced could Mayweather get in MMA and over what time frame? Hypothetically speaking if he was willing to spend up to $100 million in preparation for a UFC debut how talented could he get? Mayweather could honestly afford to bring in the whole GOAT lineup for training camp. He could have Fedor, GSP, Jones and Silva all working with him. He could bring in the best trainers from across the world. He could have the best coaches working together to collaborate on breaking down his opponents. He could bring in the best muay thai fighters, the best wrestlers, the best grapplers and the best coaches of each individual discipline.
Maybe it wouldn't matter but it is certainly interesting to think that he could have the best MMA camp of all time with all of the legends and best trainers. He could afford it all and would that be enough for him to learn exponentially faster than other mma fighters?
It wouldn't make any difference. You could have the highest level of training tools and coaches available today and you'd still need the thousands of hours of repetition in multiple disciplines.
Not to mention how difficult it will be to break habits from a boxing career with a specialized style.
Most of Floyd's boxing defense would get him eaten alive in MMA.
floyd has NOTHING to lose fighting in the cage.. only gain. his boxing legacy is in tact and will not be effected.. this is a quick way for him to make another enormous payday while risking NOTHING!! its really not to far fetched.
Only on sherdog is Conor v Floyd "impossible, never gonna happen, never ever never"
but Floyd Mayweather fighting in the UFC is "not to far fetched."
Floyd's made a billion dollars boxing. His businesses generate more monthly revenue than the entire UFC reebok deal. Floyd loves attention, is clearly bored and we'd all love to see him fight in the UFC... but why would he co-promote with the UFC when he makes 60 cents of every dollar, on his own?
Unless that's the only way he can fight Conor McGregor again.
Conor v Floyd 2 in MMA probably breaks 6 million PPVs
