Great fight honestly thought it should have been a draw.

How?

10 point must scoring, no point deductions and 3 reasonably competitive rounds.

There were zero knockdowns in the fight and about 4 seconds of control time on the ground.

Or you just mean "playground scoring the fight was about even" ?



* 1 judge did score it a draw but I find that scoring to be pretty asinine and counterintuitive to logic and the actual scoring criteria.

I thought round 2 was probably a 10 10. Mma should have way more draws because some rounds are close and there are only 3. Playground justin won for sure

Round 2 was a very close round.


It is a shame that the 10-10 scoring option is pretty much non existent in terms of how the fights are scored in real life.

I agree that draws and 10-10 rounds SHOULD occur much more frequently as that would be a more accurate portrayal of many close fights/rounds.
Unfortunately either commissions, casinos or someone in a position of power does not agree.

Eye pokes are legal.

You get 2 or 3 per fight. It's however many you can get away with prior to the warning and then MAYBE one more.

Just rotate through fouls each round.
1 eye poke, groin shot when pressured and a few back of the head shots if you go to the ground.

You get atleast 1 each round and if you do those and then finish the fight quickly, it will just be ignored anyway provided you are moderately exciting or mostly a striker.

From what I remember it was a competitive fight but a solid 2-1 for Gaethje.

I thought justin edged round 2 with cleaner, more impactful strikes, but it was close. He very obviously won round 3.

Andrew Golatta knew that of you are going to work the family jewels, 1 nutshot or 3-4 piece scrambled eggs both result in the same warning/maybe point deduction for the most part.
