News First Encounter with Amazon's DGAF Policy

well, the only people who may not badmouth them that I've met are immigrants who say the work load is fine, in other words, maybe folks who either work super hard or have no idea of good working conditions.

the one thing amazon does do is give older americans a shot, I've seen people so old and incapable that I can't even imagine a mcdonald's hiring them and there they are limping around in their imperfect way, with the demands of the place I imagine most of them just get ousted fast but at least they got a shot.
Yeah people from the third world fit in just fine there. I wish the being willing to hire anyone in this industry was a plus. On the one hand it allowed me to just randomly switch careers in my mid thirties. On the other hand, I have worked with a LOT of ex cons in the last decade. And some of them were in for violent crimes like attempted murder.

These places background check, but they still hire violent felons and diddlers.

Usps wouldn't hire them would they? I know a guy that just got out for raping a little girl, no idea who's gonna hire him. He keeps asking my brother for my number, making him feel awkward. In some ways we are the company we keep and I'm at the point where I want to be alone if that means I can avoid goofballs. One grat thing about the job is that I'm left alone most of the time.

Idk never applied there. I was about to offer job advice but then it clicked for me what you said he did. I don't think I can say on here what I hope happens to him out there in the world tbh.

They're insanely overworked too. Even being in the industry the last decade I've avoided them. The word of mouth is that bad. And that's in an industry already known to treat workers like shit.

Which is why I cut delivery guys and waitresses a break. It pisses me off when people shit on them constantly. They already have hard jobs. Just treat them like everyone else and accept that sometimes people make mistakes at work.

The entire industry got bent over and fucked during and after covid too. The average person has no idea how these places operate.

They constantly overbook and then figure out how to deliver on the back end. It's not unusual to see places with supposed 8 hour positions that are 11 to 12 hours a day five days a week, but still advertised like you'll just be working 40.

alot of people would have that sentiment, me, for me, it's more practical, i simply do not need anymore broken people in my life or time wasters. Think i mentioned to you, you may not remember, but I went through a funk last summer, my brother is having health problems and I even told him I don't know how much I have left to look after him. Just that simple. Also, I changed my number at least 4 times in the last few years because people wouldn't stop harassing me with their own wants, i'm tired of changing my number and I'm finally, at my old age just starting to tell people no.

As far as the rapist in question, it's gonna be hell for him to survive. He already lost one job, most likely because his employer dug a bit more into his background.

people will shit on us, that's for sure. Depending on the situation, i kill 'em with kindness or have in one case just told the guy we could fight. Even still, i'm alone most of the time and compared to working a real, fast paced customer service job, it's a piece of cake. One near fight out of 15000 or so deliveries, probably more, isn't that bad for me, it's probably a record in terms of my past.

there used to be the common term, "going postal" but that kind of seemed to go away but in my area, some (from what i read) small asian guy was being constantly bullied by a samoan guy at a USPS depot, little asian guy finally snapped, shot the samoan, ran from police then shot himself. From what I read, the asian guy had done everything he could through the proper channels and no one did anything. That's always been the case on my jobs though, no one gives a shit if someone is fucking with you, long as it ain't them.

Yeah you and me both. It got pretty bad. I'm willing to live and let live on a lot of things, but the :eek::eek::eek: stuff is one of the areas I draw a hard line. Just known too many damaged people. One of the guys here is one apparently. And everyone knows about it. Big place fortunately so it's easy to avoid him.

I went through a background check to get here, so something bars employment for the company. Just not being a diddler I guess. One of the last jobs I had before this, there was a guy that had just got out for attempted murder on the crew. It really is like the wild west out here. But there's more work that needs to be done than people that want to do it, so some of these places are getting desperate.

I have mixed feelings about Amazon, but compared to most other businesses I've interacted with, they are one of the smartest. I bet they flag any item that would be problematic to replace and treat it differently.

I think they are just raking in dough so fast that "just-send-another" is cheaper and more efficient for them as long as its a "cookie-cutter" item.
Do you think Amazon is eating the cost for replacement if it's something ordered from 3rd party seller?

If you like your neighbors and you know who the package belongs to, it's generally good etiquette to go out of your way to give it to them. Because sooner or later your package or bills will be accidentally given to someone else.

With that being said, I hate all of my neighbors lmao. Everything Amazon has accidentally dropped off has been s***. Imagine being one of those people who find huge dollar items like laptops.

Didn't the op say he lives in an apartment. Yeah probably wouldn't go out of my way to return it.

Often 3rd party vendors utilize USPS instead of Amazon delivery, so despite being sold by Amazon these transactions shouldn't matter.

By contrast, in "fulfillment by Amazon" cases when Amazon takes control of the stock and delivers it themselves, I would expect them to evaluate how costly replacing an item would be. For cookie-cutter-type items from 3rd party vendors, I assume they are obliged to cover the vendor's cost. However, if the item is relatively hard to replace and Amazon has already taken responsibility for delivering it, I could easily see them contacting the driver and telling them to turn around.

I once bought a second-hand book from Amazon that cost me about $160. I'm pretty sure this was a "fulfillment by Amazon" case. As I recall, they utilized UPS, not their own driver. Maybe that's their policy for such cases.

the guy who tried to return the package? We need more honest people in the world, not less. People steal amazon packages all day long, the drivers get blamed.

I agree brother! But it has to be about the customer as well, not Amazon!

One time this goof driver dropped off 3 sets of supplies (one was mine) and when I google map’d the addresses for the other two, they were about 10 mins drive and it was dinner time at my house around 630pm-ish so I could not just go. I called Walmart three times because I got Apu two times who could not help. The third time “Cindy” said it was impossible to get the driver to come back and that Walmart will send a new package to them anyways and for me not to worry. Told me I could drop the supplies off back to Walmart but it was up to me and then thanked me for my honesty.

So yeah, it happens.

Apu is a pain in the ass, believe me, I know.

As far as the drivers, let's just say it's very common to have some real dullards doing the gig. Also, with the lack of real stringent hiring practices, I can only assume that Amazon does the blaming driver (and a lot of other stuff) for stolen packages because they know what the odds are if a driver "loses" a certain amount of packages, they know he's stealing them, just my guess. The food delivery drivers eat the food all the time, hear it on the news. Also, so many of them literally barely speak a word of English.

You spent all that time on the phone to Amazon when it could’ve been dropped off, wtf is wrong with this generation
