Crime Firearms

I'm in Canada so had to take the Canadian Firearm Safety Curse and am glad I did.

I have a couple 306 browning and mosberg shotgun for hunting. I am thinking of gettng a .22lg for fun.

If most people in a society truly do need a gun for self defense like in Latam shitholes(where they're mostly banned) then yes that is awful and a sign of a horribly unsafe society.

Fortunately most Americans do not need a gun, most violence occurs in a relatively small number of high crime zip codes. Your average American suburbanite is more likely to shoot themselves or their wife than they are to get shot by some random assailant.

It's a little too late if you wait until you need one to buy it. You have a gun or guns hoping you won't need it.

I mean the things you just listed was also the case with covid, but we still shut down the country for that. About 80,000 adults under 40 get diagnosed with cancer each year, so that's more likely than getting shot.

Neither one is especially likely, but you can't exactly say guns are only legal if you live in a high crime area.

I never said they should only be legal if you live in a high crime area, obviously that would be a weird and nonsensical law. Just pointing out that unless you live in one such area you don't really need it in the way OP is implying. If you want to own a gun legally you should be able to even if you don't need one.

People like to say that its better to have a gun and not need it than need a gun and not have it but that assumes that there's no downside to owning a gun. Your average middle class American is a lot more likely to experience depression, over 1 million Americans attempt suicide annually and firearms are the most effective method for suicide so hence my saying that your average American suburbanite is more likely to shoot themselves than get shot at.

As far as the cancer thing, its true that its more deadly to young folks than many would imagine but its still behind homicides, accidents, and suicides as a cause of death for those under 40 and something like 87% of cancer deaths are from those over 50. To complicate matters further for men lung and bronchus cancer are among the most common so if you don't smoke or are otherwise exposed to air pollutants your chances of dying from cancer go down significantly

No, it assumes there are more defensive uses of firearms than murders or suicides, and that's not even counting how many were prevented altogether from knowing someone had a gun or believing they might.

Just the recent example, the tranny who shot kids last week was planning on shooting up someplace else first, but scrapped that plan because other people were armed and went to the school instead where nobody was.

The suicides and accidents are at least up to me. That was supposed to be the idea of the country, controlling your own fate, not a hands on nanny state that crunches numbers from people you don't know and bans shit based on strangers. I'm not overweight, so I'd object to banning chicken wings because other people are.

Freedom is often messy. It is why John Adams said our constitution is made for a moral and religious people, and is inadequate to govern anyone else. You have responsibilities with freedom, and just looking for however terrible and irresponsible of a person you can get away with being isn't quite getting it. When people abuse freedom and use it to be reckless or harm other people, you've now created an even bigger need for decent people to have it, and have people clamoring to remove it.
 
Hopefully CA recognizes that mess of an OP and does not grant you a firearm based on the fact that you can't even write coherently, despite being from the country where your language originated from.

Honestly you must be on some serious heavy medications. I would be fearful if you owned a firearm.

But again I'm not citing suicides and accidents to justify gun laws, I'm citing them as important things to consider when thinking about whether to own a gun as an individual. At the end of the day if you live in the safest neighborhood in the country but you want to buy guns to go target shooting then have it. Or heck if you really, really, really want to blow your brains out then go for it. But lots of people who experience suicidal ideation will get through them and feel glad they didn't successfully go through with it. Having access to a gun means increasing the chances of a successful suicide attempt. In fact I had a friend who tried to commit suicide by overdosing on over the counter medicines. I got her help and the next week we meet in person and she gives me a big hug and calls me her hero. If she had a gun that story could've went very differently, she might've just blown her brains out and that would've been that.

Well just as an aside, women attempt suicide with pills and discuss thoughts of suicide waaay more often than men, yet men are like 3/4 of actual suicides.

Women "attempt suicide" for attention. They don't actually want to die and don't think they will. They take a borderline dangerous dose of pills where someone will find them, and then tell everyone all about their "suicide attempt" and the charcoal tablets they took in the mental hospital. I've known like 5 chicks like this, and they were all right after some guy cheated on them or their parents got divorced.

I do have a guy friend like that too who always says he's going to kill himself and "attempted suicide" twice. We all play along and say "oh man, don't do that, you have so much to live for, if you need someone to talk to I'm always here", but we all know that's what he was after in the first place.
 
Not American but I would get a couple guns too in your position.
