Crime Firearms

Guns are a stupid way to kill yourself. All of your neighbors hear the gunshot and rush over to save your faceless husk so you can live to regret it. The only reason to use a gun is because you're a virtue signaling pussy who wants to make a big scene about it.

Its good to have defensive capabilities, and to be in charge of your own safety, not dependant on the (corrupt) state for such things.

Congratulations.

That said, you're operating from a position of irrational fear, based upon media sensationalism. Your chances of being shot on any given day are very low, and you're much more likely to die from heart disease or cancer.

Car accidents...

A few lessons down the range with a competent instructor won't do any harm

People are shot on firing ranges all of the time. It's true a lesson from someone with a past NRA affiliation wouldn't be a bad idea. Someone to at least teach the fundamentals; basic firearm safety, eye dominance, smooth slow, trigger squeeze and perfect sight alignment. All of the other things are muscle memory and gradually come with time. Who was the former Seal who was shot by a fellow VA military veteran? Kyle?

I don't really want to own them but the nutbags in this country you have to. Horrible that my thought process that I'll shoot to kill if you enter my property.

I'll buy a decent couple of guns. A handgun next to the bed, the same in the lounge.

Which courses have you been on to get your license? I renewed my Guard Card but not needed apparently.

After the shooting of 3 kids the other week with a person legally allowed to buy guns while under doctor care, wondering how easy it is to get your hands on damaging weapons.

At the end of the day, no matter how many happy, rainbow posts you put up on your social media and how lovely things may appear to be, the world can be a very evil place.

You can't live everyday like something bad is gonna happen, by no means, but you can't deny or erase the fact that it could or can at any given moment. We are not allowed to legally carry loaded firearms on us here in Canada, but you better believe I own my fair share. I mean, we can obviously go hunting with them, but I can't roll into the local 7-11 with a pistol on my side.

Get a shotgun. Hard to miss and even harder to fire from inside your house through the neighbors house and hurt someone

Judge Joe makes some good points here.

they sure make a mess though. When I was young, we had a neighbor who tried to sell my stepdad a sawed off shotgun, he didn't buy it and the neighbor blew a hole in someone's chest. He was interviewed down at the station and he took me with him for some reason. The dead guy had a huge hole in his chest and they brought the gun in to confirm it was the same one that was offered to my stepdad and it was. And, in the case of suicide, your loved ones are gonna have to deal with the aftermath of all the splatter, which has happened a time or two in my family. In one case, they just burned the home down to the ground rather than be reminded of it.

Thats the overall reality. You have more to fear from the processed food in your pantry than you do being shot in a home invasion as a regular every day joe/jane.
As long as you made it to adulthood.
Firearms are now the leading cause of death for children here in the land of the free

There is no shame in deterrence. Having a weapon is very different from actually using it. /Nuclear Ghandi
Having it in the first place is more a chance of using it than not having it. People with anger issues definitely do not need to have one on them at times in public.

In my town, we recently just began offering public bikes and scooters to people, it makes no goddamned sense and I was wondering when we'd start getting nasty accidents because no one pays attention to what's going on these days. Well, the other day, it happened, just not the way I thought it would. Some arguement between a scooter rider and a car, the scooter rider caught up to the car at a light and shot a man and his 9 year old nephew. Nothing happening in traffic justifies that kind of stupidity outside of someone actively trying to run a person down.

I always say the powers that be do not give a shit about any of us, if they did, they wouldn't be adding all this stupid shit that may help people get to jobs and spend money better but just make all of us crazier. The extra bike lanes, the scooters, all in a very congested city is senseless.

yup, and he was trying to help the killer. Kinda ironic that his guard was down enough to give the guy his shot when the text messages show he had contempt for the guy. No one can be on guard all the time though and being constantly paranoid is no way to live. Some people never sit in a public place away from a wall, helluva way to live.

WTH is a guard card?

I guess I'm done being surprised by the moronic thumbnails people will actually click on. I can't imagine a scenario where I would want to see what a TV judge's SHOCKING take is. The "man up" part also makes me think this is designed for idiots.

Depends on your state.

Why is it a horrible thought process to kill someone who enters your home? FFS man, only rape murder assault battery and at best burglary happens after that.

Obviously the dude breaking into your room (at best trying to steal from you in the most intimate place possible) is just a poor old sap in need of a meal.

It’s truly crazy that people treat burglars like shoplifters.

The judge is a smart fella, I like his thoughts even if I don't agree. I do agree that it is my job to protect myself, not the police or anyone else.
