Back then she was promoted on VH1 and MTV and I honestly don't recall ever seeing her again, or her music videos, after this MTV awards appearance.
"Fast as You Can" from When the Pawn got massive MTV play.

The reason she sort of vanished was that she just stopped writing hits. There's more songs worth listening to on those first two albums than every album she's done since combined.

Never liked any of her songs. I always felt like she got a push because of her heroin shiek appearance.

That speech in the OP is so full of self-importance too. I was indifferent but now I think I hate her.
She got attention because she was a freaking teen phenom. Tidal is easily one of the greatest albums of the 90's, and she wrote and recorded it when she was 17.

Correction - Actually her career continued for a much longer time.

I saw her at Ohana festival back in 2018 and she put on a good show. He newest album is okay.

Fiona Apple huh. There's a bitch nobody has thought about in twenty years.

I had heard about her but never listened to her music.

I remember seeing her 3rd album Extraordinary Machine (probably on AbsolutePunk, or Alternative2Punk based on the timeline) so I checked it out and liked several tracks

Man I miss those websites, discovered so much on there

"Well you ain't Fiona Apple. And if you ain't Fiona Apple then I don't give a rat's ass!"

I have Tidal on vinyl. I listen to it fairly often.

I don't think she was cancelled or anything.

I love his old music actually.

She could have been a little more specific. I hate this industry, the world, and that I'm a part of it, but I profit from it dancing and singing in my panties in a music video. Then quit and go work somewhere else or try being an independent artist. Was this the start of raising awareness over taking action?

The thread title made it sound like Fiona Apple World was a theme park or something, and that all the rides suck.

I am disappointed.

She didn't get cancelled, she just started making more experimental music which had less mainstream appeal. All her albums since have still gone top ten, it's just not very radio friendly.

@lsa was a huge fan. Huge fan.
